I had a 4 and a half hour drive from Essex to West Dorset on a very hot and sunny day. It was around 5.30pm when I turned off the main road towards Eype following signs for the beach. On my arrival I enjoyed an ice cold glass of Appletiser on the terrace overlooking the English Channel. This was bliss.... more

Once again our group of eight 'senior golfers' were welcomed and without exception enjoyed our two night stay. There has been extensive renovation during the past eighteen months which caused disruption, but now the completed bright and airy lounge with modern furniture coupled with the new terrace and Smugglers Bar has added a new dimension to the friendly atmosphere of... more

I decided to take my wife away to see the new year in and I have to say the whole experience was fantastic upon arrival we were greeted by the owners who straight away made us feel very welcome. After taking my dog for a stroll down the beach it was time to return to the hotel and prepare for... more

Website pictures looked very inviting so booked for a three night much needed mid week break .The location was superb but I was surprised to find that the very small room with the tiny bed was the superior room!!! We thought we were sharing with our neighbours as every word and movement could be heard very clearly. The service in the... more

After reading a negative review of the Smugglers Bar, I was concerned that one of my favourite places had been spoilt, I was looking forward to seeing the new room as I have visited the hotel both as a guest and also for lunch with my family when we visit the beach. I was not disappointed at all! The menu... more

A very cosy hotel with great food, cosy bar andcomfortable bedroom. For a sort break it was all that we needed to get away from it all and have a relaxing break. The evening food in the dining room was good with a reasonable choice that changed on each of the 3 nights we ate in. Breakfasts were also good... more

Having eaten in the Smuggler's Bar at Eype's Mouth Hotel on many occassions in the past, we were looking forward to the new, improved room. I'm afraid we were very disappointed. The room is no longer a "smuggler's bar" but a boring array of nondiscript tables. The service was very slow and because of this we were unable to get... more

We stayed for two nights in mid week just before Easter. The hotel was beautifully re-furbished and very clean. Our room (11) was small but perfectly adequate. We only had breakfast in the hotel which was excellent with a very good selection, the service was quick and friendly. Altogether we would reccomend the hotel for those wishing for a good... more

We stayed over Easter and loved the area. Eypes is a great location to explore the Dorset coast line - you are at the sea in a just a few minutes so no driving needed. The family who run the hotel are really lovely, and we were made to feel welcome. We paid £108 a night for a superior room,... more

I really enjoyed my recent trip to the hotel, we were welcomed by the warm staff and made to feel at home. The hotel itself is very friendly and welcomes dog-walkers, which was great for us with our dog. We spend the weekend investigating the local area and felt we made the most of the various scenic walking routes. I... more
