We always come here when we are on holiday in Dorset. The food is fantastic and the owners and staff are brilliant. We booked a table in the restaurant, which is advisable,as it is very popular. They use locally sourced products as much as possible from their meat to fresh fish and vegetables. We will certainly go at least twice more whilst we are here.It... Returned again to the Marquis for 3 nights, after their room refurb. Really friendly welcome and service with superb menus from Steve. Birthday card for the wife at Breakfast time. Beautifully cooked soft scrambled eggs, 2 rashers of bacon, large mushroom and black pudding - toast and coffee - perfect! Invited friends for "birthday dinner" which went without hitch -... More

On a bleak, dismay grey day I popped in for lunch. To find a warm convivial atmosphere, offering all the favourite stalwarts for foodies, and a treat of a desert selection to tame the heart of the most ardent critic. A much improved business from my last visit years ago, it's clean, tidy and friendly.

Stayed at the Marquis for 3 nights last week. We have stayed here several times over the last 4 years and booked again to return next Spring. We just love it here. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Always eat here in the evenings as the food is just excellent, generous portions and caters for all tastes. The rooms are... More

We stayed here for 2 nights last week and had a most pleasant stay. From the start to the finish it was truly excellent . I would strongly recommend eating at the pub as it really was magnificent. The chef does an excellent job from start to finish. I had read the other reviews and couldn't believe it was going... More

Took my sister in law for a trip to West Bay - her favourite place. Found this gorgeous place via trip advisor and was not disappointed. Cosy twin room facing out over the fields on a sunny morning - just perfect! Evening Meal and Breakfast both excellent, homemade and not expensive. Staff really friendly and the owners around making sure... More

We made a late booking at the Marquis of Lorne on our way back from Cornwall. It's a wonderful, comfortable, traditional pub, which offers excellent value for money. The pub is run by a very experienced couple and offers a really good choice of beers, ciders and wines. The home cooked food was absolutely wonderful. We were made to feel... More
