We visited The Abbey House late in the season. We chose to share the traditional cream tea and a slice of Dorset Apple Cake. Both were served with clotted cream - of course - but I was disappointed that the scones were not homemade. Having said that, it was nicely served and the, albeit paper, serviettes matched the china. Staff... More

We had a family weekend here. Fantastic rooms, excellent hosts, friendly staff - nothing is too much trouble. Superb food eaten in beautiful surroundings. A fantastic place even if just popping in for a bite to eat or a coffee. As the Tina Turner song - SIMPLY THE BEST. Very memorable and recommended to all. The Swannery is a stroll... More

Had a great lunch on Friday with four friends; how marvellous to enjoy such good food in terrific surroundings on a wonderful September afternoon. As always the welcome is considerable and done with style as well as the banter which all adds to an outstanding and memorable occasion. Our third visit and many more to come!

We have never been disappointed whether we have a light bite to eat, main meal or simply one of their divine cream teas, talking of which they do have the lightest scone ever!!! Today however we chose a light lunch, my husband had the Dorset smokie, I had the crab cakes, served with new potatoes. The salad as mu husband... More

I have known Maureen and Jonathon for years and MUST say what a lovely spot they have. A great guest house with lovely gardens and tea rooms. We didn't stay but visited for teas/coffees. We received a warm welcome, as ever, and were treated like royalty, as ALL visitors appeared to be. The guest house is set within the confines... More

We were part of an 18-strong birthday party and enjoyed a fantastic three course lunch yesterday. Beautiful fresh ingredients, cooked impeccably with a lovely, thoughtful vegetarian option and generous portions. (What a great pastry chef, too!) The garden and view, are of course the jewels in the crown and thanks so much to Jonathan, his wife and staff, who are... More

We visited after a long walk taking in Chesil Beach and had a lovely afternoon tea. The service was efficient and friendly. The cream tea was divine and the Dorset apple cake was generous and equally enjoyable, according to my husband. We sat in the pretty gardens in the lovely September sunshine while overlooking the Tithe Barn and St Catherine's... More

After a long walk with the dogs on a hot Sunday afternoon we came across this wonderful place. They welcomed us into their beautifully kept garden with stunning views. The owner apologised as they were very busy and would probably have to wait for 30mins to be served, altho we ordered our drinks straight away so it was no hardship... More

My wife and I spent the night here recently and were most impressed. Jonathan and Maureen and daughter Natasha left an indelible mark on us. Our first point of contact was Natasha who, although rather busy serving lunches, was most hospitable and giving of her time. These people know how to host. And they do it in a genuine and... More

Only stayed one night but very impressed by the welcome, the room and fabulous breakfast the next morning. Tea (and cake) on the lawn was excellent and with great views down to the sea and the tithe barn, and with children playing in the garden, this is as good as it gets. Highly recommended although the decorative style in the... More
