Wheelwrights was the perfect base for our 7-day walking holiday in Dorset. Sue and Nigel provided a warm welcome and fantastic breakfasts that fuelled us on many long walks. Nigel's books on Abbotsbury helped us make the most of exploring the village. Abbotsbury has an excellent sub-tropical garden, swannery, craft shops, tea rooms, and eateries. The dark night skies and... More

Many thanks for writing so kindly about us: we enjoyed welcoming you both, and were glad that the weather treated you kindly - apart from the Portland day ! Your detailed comments - and thanks for going into detail - will surely help future guests here. Best wishes from us both, Sue and Nigel More

Really lovely b&b you stay in a separate thatched annexe. Very spacious room with enormous bed, TV and lovely bathroom. Own entrance and car parking and then you just pop next door for breakfast or if you need anything. Very friendly & welcoming hosts, very knowledgeable on local area with handy hints and recommendations. Welcomed with a lovely cream tea... More

Sue and Nigel made us feel very welcome, cooked breakfast is to die for! A wonderful retreat, perfect location for exploring the beautiful Dorset coastline and a real home from home feeling. The annex is just perfect with its stunning thatch roof, a massive bed, rainfall shower and the beach on your doorstep. What more could anyone want. We will... More

Delightful 'independent' thatched double room (mega size comfortable bed!) spacious en suite, tea/coffee making facilities, TV & dvd, off road parking - ticks all boxes for a perfect stay in Abbotsbury - just when you think things can't get any better, breakfast is served! - lovely selection and perfectly cooked (can visitors really eat that much?) Nigel and Sue are... More

I would not disagree with most of the comments of the other reviews but add the following. During our stay the bed was not made each day and the shower room was not cleaned or the towels changed. We have never encountered this before anywhere. While on the subject of the towels they were very hard and rough. The room... More

We're very disappointed that you were unhappy with aspects of your time with us. If you had told us during your three-day stay about the things you mention in your review, we would naturally have done our best to put them right. Beyond our control, however, is the window which looks over the garden belonging to our neighbour, an elderly... More

I'm not sure that I can add anything that hasn't already been said but as a fellow bed and breakfast owner, I could be accused of being more picky than most. However, there was nothing to fault. My friend and I received a wonderful warm welcome from Sue and Nigel. Having spent the day walking the coastal path, we really... More

This lovely b&b is run by lovely people! Both Sue and Nigel are so warm and welcoming, and immediately make you feel at ease and really welcome. We stayed two nights this December and had a great visit. The room itself was spotless, and comes with TV (small), en-suite bathroom (lovely and warm and beautifully fitted) and there is also... Just returned from a four night stay at Wheelwrights fulfilling a long held wish to visit the places nearby which we passed through for years. Abbotsbury is a delightful honey stoned village with, mostly, thatched roofs and a perfect base to explore locally and for day trips out. We received a very warm welcome from our hosts. The room was... More
