Just returned from a four night stay at Wheelwrights fulfilling a long held wish to visit the places nearby which we passed through for years. Abbotsbury is a delightful honey stoned village with, mostly, thatched roofs and a perfect base to explore locally and for day trips out. We received a very warm welcome from our hosts. The room was... More

The previous reviews talk of the room and amenities...all true and well worth the visit...but what makes this above average/stellar are Sue and Nigel...hosts extraordinaire! They will see that your visit is exceptional and they are so very helpful. They are obviously warm and caring people and it shows! Be sure to try some of Sue's cookies too...wish I had... More

Thank you for such a nice review ! You'll be glad to know that the cutting is thriving on the window ledge. Glad you like the biscuits, too. Best wishes, Sue and Nigel More

We spent a night in this apartment three days ago and it was one of the most positive experiences we've had in our holiday travels throughout the UK. The room itself is separate from the house, so has its own entrance through the garden, and there is ample parking space ( unusual in Abbotsbury ). Nigel and Sue Melville, are... More

You're too kind ! We enjoyed welcoming you and chatting with you, and we're delighted that you liked the room and the "little touches". Thank you so much for such a glowing recommendation, and we hope we'll meet up again next time you come back to Abbotsbury. Sue and Nigel More

Booked Wheelwrights for an overnight stay on our return from Jersey. We didn't arrive until early evening as the ferry was delayed and were greeted by Sue and Nigel and invited into their sitting room for coffe and the most delicious scones, jam and cream. Very interesting people to talk to and nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom was... More

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. Lovely location, wonderful breakfast. Having your own separate entrance was ideal. Very large and comfortable bed. Sue and Nigel could not have been more helpful. Certainly would stay again.

What a delight this was! To arrive in a beautiful, unspoilt 18th century village and to be greeted so warmly with cream tea was just the start of an extremely pleasurable stay. The accommodation is very comfortable and in a quiet location. We were able to read amongst the flowers in a fine garden. The next morning we were given... More

Many thanks for your generous comments: we're glad you found the garden as good a spot for relaxing as we do. Hope that your day in Weymouth went well, and that the degree results are everything you'ld like them to be. Best wishes ! More

Wonderful B and B with knowledgeable, friendly hosts and your own thatched cottage in their lovely garden. Just as other people have described it. Would definitely stay again in this delightful part of Dorset.

On arrival you are greeted by Sue and Nigel, who are extremely welcoming, not only with a fantastic cream tea but with their friendly conversation. The building is beautifully thatched and the accommodation has its own separate entrance. It is exceptionally comfortable, with little extras that just make you feel cared for: a selection of different hot drinks, extra blankets,... More

Just chatting to Nigel on the phone when arranging our booking, we suspected that this was going to be a really good place to stay ..... and so it turned out. We were welcomed with a cream tea in the garden and shown to our delightful room in the thatched extension. An excellent nights sleep ahead of a long days... More

What a joy, such friendly, warm welcome with delicious cream tea. Great accommodation, first class furnishing & fittings. Electric blanket, blankets and central heating that works, every comfort catered for. Fantastic breakfast and such lovely interesting people. Nigel & Sue were just perfect hosts, nothing too much trouble but not over the top. Look forward to our next visit.
