We had a brilliant weekend staying at The Ilchester Arms, the staff were lovely we felt very welcomed, it has a modern bar with a variety of Real Ales and spirits, its has an open fire which was always burning and and gave a nice cosy atmosphere, the food was excellent, the breakfast was great with all locally sourced produce,... We stayed in a very pleasant quiet room on sunday night. Were welcomed extremely pleasantly, had a superb breakfast. Then left our car in the car park whilst we went walking on nearby Chesil Beach. We returned after our walk had an excellent lunch and left vowing to come back for a longer stay because we had enjoyed ourselves so much!

Not sure why I forgot to review this excellent restaurant so here goes: We visited in Mid December 14 on a Friday for an evening meal and received a warm and friendly welcome from the start. The decor is different and there are plenty of seating options from a few bar stools to comfy sofas, fireside chairs and dining tables... More

Terribly run, treat staff with no respect, looked down on by management, toffee-nosed, kitchen staff rude, rooms awful, beer too expensive, too slow service, un-organised... I just wouldn't bother.....

Had lunch there was very good, service also was good, helpful and friendly, well done guys.the pub has been refurbished to a high standard.would recommend it.the only downside for us is getting there, but other than that all good.the village of abbots bury is we think the prettiest in the area, easy reach of beaches, good parking, and the swannery is just around the corner, great location.

My girlfriend and I came across this place frantically googling some where to stay for N.Y.E. Our criteria was a pub in a village out side London ,and that was pretty much it .The Ilchester didn't disappoint ,from the moment I made the call for the booking I was impressed at the friendliness of the landlord on the phone who... We stayed here in October with elderly parents and it was wonderful. Comfortable ensuite rooms with character and a lovely pub restaurant downstairs with a superb conservatory. The hosts were welcoming and very hospitable, they have only been here a short while and nothing was too much trouble. Great for families with a film day on Saturdays to keep children... More

We stayed here for two nights between Christmas and New Year and didn't want to leave (in fact, we even ended up "popping back" after we'd checked out!) - the staff were all so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, the service was excellent! The hotel was very festive and really Christmassy and cosy feeling with decorations and music... More

Met friends for lunch here. We had booked a table for 9 people, 5 of which were children. Our food arrived 1hr and 20 mins after we ordered it after much chasing and fobbing off by incompetent staff. The reason for our long wait was apparently due to a lack of staff cooking and serving. Surely less bookings and a... More

Annual weekend away with friends. Stayed for 2 nights B&B. Very warm welcome. Room was basic, no TV but it did have tea and coffee making facilities and comfortable bed. The bar area was excellent, sofas, tables and chair and lovely log fire. Lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was in the conservatory area and very good, and we stayed for dinner two... More
