My family and I spent a week at this hotel at the end of August, the first thing we discovered was that it was easy to find, and ideally located not too far from the beach or local amenities. The staff were very friendly, hard working and accomodating. One example was our 2nd night when our son caught a tummy... More

No "Airs & Graces" here, just a perfectly run place with an all good feel to it. Robert the owner & all the staff couldn't have been nicer. Excellent value for money accomodation, fantastic breakfast buffett, ate too much every morning!. Carvery , roasts absolutely superb with all locally sourced fresh veg & meats, beautiful. Great choice of real ales... More

We went to The Fortescue Arms twice when we stayed at Woolacombe and wished we could have bought it back with us. There were 15 of us the first time and 11 the second and they couldn't have been more accomodating, rearranging the dining room to fit us in together. All the staff were welcoming and friendly as if we... More

We ate our evening meal here twice last week whilst holidaying at the Golden Coast Holiday Villiage situated literally 2mins away. We were attended to promptly by a friendly chap who said he'd arrange us a table whilst we had a drink at the bar. We had barely had time to sit down and our table was ready for us,... More

Every July I play volleyball in Croyde during GoldCoast Oceanfest and because of that I stay with friends in The Fortescue Arms (4 years in a row now!)... and have to say - every time we are impressed with great service! Rooms are always clean, food is great and massive (even chef came to us just to confirm about steak,... More

Visited there 6.30pm on a Sunday when the carvery was in full swing' had to wait a few minutes for a table, staff very friendly. We ordered off the main menu, poached chicken in a cream sauce, I had a mixed grill. The food was cocked excellently described by my wife as perhaps the best poached chicken she had had,... More

Been to this pub many times over the years whilst holidaying in Woolacombe. We decided to go here for late lunch/early tea as the food previously had been excellent. But this time I am not sure what went wrong but, the pub had no atmosphere. It was freezing cold and the s absolutely no service from the staff what so... More

We are sorry to hear your meal experience was not a good one, we take all customer reviews very seriously, as you can see many of our customer reviews are very complimentory. Our home cooked ham glazed with mustard 2 eggs and chips for £7.95 is normally a great hit with customers. If you return to John's Woolacombs sands again... More

All my family 25 of us were looking for somewhere for dinner, what a fab welcome from the owner, told us to come back between 3-4 pm and he would sort the tables for us, we turned up to be told give them a couple of minutes and the tables would be ready, this did happen, the food was excellent...
