Not very impressive at all. Booked a two night stay for myself and three friends where we had four separate rooms, one room had no heating, and no hot water the first night, we mentioned this to the staff who assured us it would be sorted, nothing was done. The second room on the first morning also had no hot... More

We are sorry that a couple of aspects of your stay were disappointing. We take criticism very seriously and personally as we have our boiler maintenance man coming out straight away to try and rectify the hot water/ heating issues. As this is our first winter here we are dealing with all of the issues of an antiquated heating/wash system,... More

This was our first visit to the Rising Sun on a blustery, cold New Years Day. Upon entering our welcome was warm and genuine. We were both delighted that our dog could join us, and settled in together at a lovely table overlooking the River Taw. We choose baguettes and seasoned French fries which on arrival were pleasing to the... More

A group of us visited the Rising Sun in Aug 15. The pub had a nice feel to it and a warm welcome. The food we ordered was nice and was typical pub grub. I feel this was let down by wait in between each meal being brought out. From the first main being served to the last, in a... More

Dear Adele Thank you for writing us a review. We are not sure on the exact day of your visit, as we only took over the business in August ourselves. If it was on a day we were here I would like to apologise for the wait incurred but would like to point out that all of our meals are... More

My husband and I live locally and, we have been to The Rising Sun, many times, before the new management. Sadly, we were very disappointed over the years, and, frankly, it was off our list for dining out. However...the good news is...since Julian and Karla have been in charge, we have had several, very! enjoyable evenings. The pub has been... More

Don't understand negative reviews. We had a great experience. Great service, food, everyone welcoming, lovely atmosphere. Steak night was so good we went back last night and had another great meal. They welcome dogs in the bar which was buzzing!

To be honest, while the staff were friendly, that was probably the only good thing about this pub. It was cold, the had a log burner but this just had tealights inside. The menu was very limited with little for vegetarians/vegans. Parents had mashed potato that resembled smash. Very expensive for what arrived on the plates. Not impressed but there's... More

Lovely pub, great location, shame about the food/service. Got drinks order wrong. Got food order wrong. Food took a long time to arrive. Only 1 highchair when we needed two. Beef lovely and yorkshire pudding huge but not much veg. Pork was tiny and basically served with just carrots. Kids beef dinner much bigger than adults pork dinner! Only 1... More

We are extremely sorry for your disappointing visit to us, we are trying our best to iron out the teething troubles, including two new chefs. We regret the service was not up to scratch on that day, more then likely due to the stress of the food not going out as planned. We do hope you will return for a... More

We have just had a lovely weekend at the Rising Sun. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had Dobbs room which overlooked the bridge and river. The room itself was very pretty and spacious.
