Just returned from a week with Neil and Bev who run the Sampson Barton Guest House and Restaurant. Everything was a joy from the spotless, warm bedrooms to the lounge with massive stone fireplace and log fire, to the amazingly good food. A different dinner menu each day and a choice of 3 dishes for starter, main and sweet. Some... More

I stayed here for two nights in the summer of 2014 with my adult daughter while we were conducting some genealogy research. Sampson Barton Guest House is located in farmland along a narrow Devon lane between George Nympton & Kings Nympton about 5km from South Molton. It was originally built in the 1600's and is full of character. Our room... More

This was recommended by local artist and art teacher Tony Williams. The house itself is a typical old country house with sloping walls and floors and, from the outside, nothing special to look at. The gardens are well maintained and quite charming. The guest house is run by a friendly and attentive couple. The inside has been refurbished tastefully and... More

Stayed recently for festival and Bev couldn't of helped more if she tried, absolutely lovely room and food. Would definitely stay there again esp if festival returns next year. You felt like an old friend and got addressed by first names as soon as you walked in, how Bev managed that I'll never know. Great relaxed atmosphere and credit to... More

Stayed here in July whilst visiting a festival locally. The Guest House completely exceeded my expectations which were high anyway. The grounds are perfectly kept and beautiful and ll rooms spotless. The food was fantastic and the hospitality second to none. Such wonderful people have made this guest house the best I've stayed in. We had a relaxing stay, nothing... More

From the moment of arrival we were made to feel at home and nothing was too much trouble for Bev or Neil. The house is just as we had hoped, full of charcter and spotlessly clean. Our bedroom was lovely and was available to us at any time. There was no feeling of having to go out as soon as... More

Calm and relaxing, superb welcome and food. There is so much Bev and neil could show most other hotels we have stayed at about looking after guests, which is not the same as "customer care." Thank you both....looking forward to our next trip

Approach After negotiating the winding narrow lanes of Devon via a tempramental Sat Nav, we arrived at Sampson Barton Guest House on the Friday evening of our weekend stay. We were greeted by the proprietor, Bev, and treated to a delicious Devon Cream tea! The house dates from 1600 so boasts huge fireplaces and lots of history. I should imagine... More
