We stayed at the Sampson Barton Guest House for one night in May and had a lovely time. The guest house is on a narrow country lane but we followed the directions that Bev and Neil sent and had no problems finding the place. We were made to feel really welcome on our arrival, with a lovely cream tea! Our... More

A comfortable converted farm situated on the edge of Exmoor in rolling countryside with quiet lanes and walkways that you can explore on foot. Leave your car parked safely in the farm yard and walk to Kings Nympton to enjoy the thatched buildings and a good lunch and pint at the Grove. We were made to feel welcome as soon... More

Magical, tranquil, beautiful - a wonderful place to stay with the best hosts you could ask for. Clean, comfortable rooms with homemade biscuits on your hostess tray. An inglenook in the guest lounge with a glass of wine or coffee and after dinner mints. Just wonderful to relax in after a spectacular 3 course dining experience that will take some... More

Twelve of us recently stayed at Sampson Barton for 2 nights for a family celebration. From the moment we walked into a warm welcome and a cream tea, everything was perfect. Bev and Neil worked hard to make sure we all had a wonderful time. Comfortable accommodation; delicious breakfasts. Neil's dinner menus were interesting and imaginative - the food could... More

You keep going and you keep going and then there it is. A haven of peace. Great room, excellent breakfast and a great location. I wish we had had time to walk in the area but there were other things we planned on doing. And thanks to Bev for being such a great host.

Thanks so much for your review, especially as it was last summer when you stayed. Perhaps you were reminiscing or planning this years's holiday, either way it was lovely of you to think of us and take the time to complete your review. Happy holidays when they arrive! More

Just returned from a week with Neil and Bev who run the Sampson Barton Guest House and Restaurant. Everything was a joy from the spotless, warm bedrooms to the lounge with massive stone fireplace and log fire, to the amazingly good food. A different dinner menu each day and a choice of 3 dishes for starter, main and sweet. Some... More

I stayed here for two nights in the summer of 2014 with my adult daughter while we were conducting some genealogy research. Sampson Barton Guest House is located in farmland along a narrow Devon lane between George Nympton & Kings Nympton about 5km from South Molton. It was originally built in the 1600's and is full of character. Our room... More

This was recommended by local artist and art teacher Tony Williams. The house itself is a typical old country house with sloping walls and floors and, from the outside, nothing special to look at. The gardens are well maintained and quite charming. The guest house is run by a friendly and attentive couple. The inside has been refurbished tastefully and... More

Stayed recently for festival and Bev couldn't of helped more if she tried, absolutely lovely room and food. Would definitely stay there again esp if festival returns next year. You felt like an old friend and got addressed by first names as soon as you walked in, how Bev managed that I'll never know. Great relaxed atmosphere and credit to... More

Stayed here in July whilst visiting a festival locally. The Guest House completely exceeded my expectations which were high anyway. The grounds are perfectly kept and beautiful and ll rooms spotless. The food was fantastic and the hospitality second to none. Such wonderful people have made this guest house the best I've stayed in. We had a relaxing stay, nothing... More
