Wow! We accidently found this gem of an Inn today... I can't believe we live only an hour away from it. When we left two hours later!!! We were still in awe of the place! I felt like a child when entering through an actual carriage! I can't wait to go again as I am sure there are many things... More

Thank you my darlings for enjoying us. It is people like you that are saving the pub trade from decline! Look forward to seeing you again. More

I found this place when I googled for a pub in the area as we were spending a night in the nearby travelodge. What a feast for the eyes! Full of quirky bits and bobs - never been so up close and personal with an Egyptian sarcophagus in an English country pub!! The bars all have a different decor but... More

If you treasure a real pub with real character then head here for a feast of eclectic clutter so intense it's more like wearing the pub rather than just walking into it. Crafted with loving care over decades the interior still oozes so much detail it would take a year to list it all. Huge baulks of timber, tree roots,... More

My husband and a friend visited here on a road trip and were treated with such warmth that they decided to come back. A few years later, I visited with them, and the owners remembered them! Although we haven't stayed in the hotel, or tried the food, I cannot complain about the pub-aspect of the place. The pub itself is... More

When ever we go to england this one pub we try and visit. It really is different. There seems to be a corner we call the road kill bar. It's full of stuffed animals were sure a lot of them meet there end on the road. One bar you think you could be on a galleon it's quite magnificent. The... More

What a place, seeing is believing. Words can't do this place justice. Had a great pub meal (braised steak in gravy, mash and peas) and a drink. Service was great and staff very helpful. Took loads of photos, some of which I've attached. If your passing well worth a visit.

We travelled to Exeter and used as a base to travel round some of the haunted/mysterious sites as part of a Halloween themed holiday for our daughter, i also like to visit historic/unusual bars as a hobby (tough hobby but someone has to do it), this place took our breath away with the ingenious use of space, the eclectic mix... My husband and I visited today as we have been meaning to for some time now. We live in Bideford so thought it would be a lovely day out, and we weren't disappointed in the slightest. The hospitality we received from sally and Bruce was second to none even tho we had never met them before. We stayed for a... More

As always returned home chilled out and relaxed after a fabulous long weekend visit to our favourite pub. We stayed in the Victorian room which is very comfortable and overlooks open fields, very good for bird watching. Our first visit was to Tavistock market that is a must on any Saturday. We will try in the future to be there... More

Loved this place! We happened to see the sign while driving past advertising "the most unusual pub in Britain". Definitely lived up to its claim, so surreal and imaginative! Loved the little nooks with installations in the hideaway bar. I really applaud the owners on creating and maintaining such a wonderful place.
