This is a small hotel and restaurant overlooking the sea bar in Shaldon. Parking is in a public car park about 50 yards up the hill from The Ness, although there are 3 disabled parking spots near the entrance to the building. We booked a table for 5 in the conservatory over looking the sea, which although it was misty... More

My daughter and grandson asked if my wife and my myself if we would like to go out for Sunday lunch for a change seeing as the weather was so nice. We eventually decided on the Ness the ambience was nice and the food quiet good but boy was it way expensive the drinks especially. Over a hundred pounds for... More

2nd visit to see if things had improved - NO. Waited 20 minutes at the bar to be served even though I was the only person at the Bar. The Lager I wanted was not available my wife drinks Bacardi again not available. We were going to eat but decided against it to prevent further disappointment.

Nobody could fault the fabulous location or this lovely building. Having a balcony to soak up the stunning views was wonderful initially. However, and really disappointingly, outside is the place to be. The room was incredibly dowdy and basic with dated melamine furniture and an absolutely filthy and very badly stained old carpet. I tried making tea but there was... More

Wonderful boutique hotel with fabulous views over the teign estuary. Really lovely warm atmosphere. We had two rooms here one for ourselves and one for our daughter. We were fortunate to have a room with the estuary view. The staff here are truly lovely ( especially Ezster), We had an evening meal and also a breakfast in the morning both... More

lovely location, great food, but the worst mattress i have ever slept on, left with a bad back would not pay the money for this again. Shame as location is lovely and will have to find a new hotel on the same island.

Four of us went here today for lunch (Friday after Christmas). One member of our party has a medical condition that makes swallowing difficult. We asked did they have soup on the menu and were assured that they did. Having been seated we were then told that there was no soup. We spotted cauliflower cheese on the menu and asked... More

The Main gastro pub restaurant was fine and offers lovely views. However, since this place is owned by a brewery, it was a bit off that they ran out of all draught ales on our first night here. We only ate the second night we stayed and the Dorset veal they highly recommended was really poor. Rooms could be lovely... More

For visitors and tourists the Ness has fabulous views over Teignmouth. I initially from friends had formed fairly high expectations of the venue ! Sadly however I was left unimpressed! Firstly several items my partner ordered were not available on the menu for which we discovered our waitress had not been informed. The service was slow, despite the fact that... More
