family run pub, with a warm welcome on arrival, had a good crack with the barmaid who turned out to be the landlady daughter, and the food was good and tasty, cooked by the mum who clearly has all the old school tricks when it comes to cooking, ok its not a yuppee pub and could prob do with updating... Unfriendly welcome, hardly any draught lagers / beers available (granted it was out of season, but did not appreciate the sarcastic reply when requesting a draught lager). Quite frankly I would never go back there.

Went to this pub several times during a recent family holiday. We were made to feel really welcome by staff and locals. Can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay but would definitely recommend the food. All freshly cooked and generous portions for a good price.

Great old pub/restaurant. Carpark free after certain times over the road. No one else eating when we arrived at 6pm on a FRiday, so obviously they struggle at term times. Freshly cooked food – good fish and steaks. Good desserts and drinks. Lovely staff. Parrot even talks to you. Didn't stay in the hotel, just ate there. Recommended.

For 2 adults and a dog it cost us £245.00 It is a family run place and they cant do enough to help. The rooms are very clean and beds made daily and clean towels when you... More

We were in the area on a family holiday over August bank holiday and due to unforeseen circumstances needed a place to stay at short notice and Smugglers Rest came to the rescue. What can I say, from the initial phone call to when we checked out the service was excellent, rooms were very clean and well maintained, comfy beds... More

We booked up here as we love morthoe , although the room was spacious the decor is so out dated and mismatched, the reception area very cluttered and unwelcoming. Unfortunately this wasn't our kind of B&B at all looked more like a student house to be honest! On the positive , excellent breakfast and lovely doggy George, (I'd love to... More
