Firstly hotel in fabulous spot, breathtaking views. Had a special rate due to our booking in January being cancelled by hotel because of closure.rooms spacious and very clean. All staff we came across were friendly ,courteous And professional. The food in the restaurant was excellent. However, there are a few little things that spoilt the idyllic break. In the rooms the complimentary... More

We had not visitedthe Woolacombe area for many years and were delighted with the location of the hotel. Our bedroom overlooked the beach and surf..... couldn't ask for better. Even a fabulous sunset one evening. The Hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment and we understand our room was still to be included as the window sills and double glazing needed... More

We return each March for a family birthday celebration and have done so for several years. The Hotel is undergoing a full re-decoration, and the impact of the changes is very impressive, the overall impression being very clean and modern. The reception team are excellent, most have been at the hotel for a long time, and nothing is too much... More

I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed your annual family celebration at the Watersmeet. The hotel is so fortunate to be surrounded by the many scenic coastal footpaths and the sea air is such a tonic. Thank you for your kind comments regarding the recent updates, we must have done something right judging by the numerous compliments! We look... More

Second time of staying at this excellent hotel, recent refurbishments have made this first class hotel even better. The rooms are bigger than average and have stunning views. Food and service are excellent. Highly recommended.

I just wanted to thank the hotel for such a wonderful time at Christmas, this is our 2nd visit to Watersmeet and it won,t be the last. The 3 of us arrived Christmas Eve for a 3 night break. Everything was what we expected and more, from the little touches tins of sweets, dishes of nuts and oranges to the... More

A super restful stay in a wonderful location in a lovely hotel. The food was excellent and the staff attentive without being ingratiating. We will certainly revisit as soon as we can! Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough if you want dramatic bedroom views, pleasant staff, good food and good walking

Arriving at this hotel you are met with a view to die for. Its located so that you get a super view of the sea and the dramatic coast line. I believe this is surfers paradise however I don't surf so can't vouch for that. The welcome was warm as was the hotel who obviously do not skimp on the... More

This is a lovely property in a fantastic location, perched above a beautiful bay looking west over Woolacombe bay and some of the best maritime sunsets you're likely to see in the UK. We went amid fierce autumn storms and the sea was extremely impressive. Many rooms, both restaurants and public rooms share this view. The staff, accommodation, and location... More

I just spent a couple of nights at this hotel as I was looking for a really nice break for the family after Christmas. The hotel was quite nice but with a bit of effort and some staff training could have been very good. The location is superb, overlooking woolacombe bay. The decor is quite tasteful and well done in... More

Watersmeet is a very old-fashioned upper crust hotel in a beautiful location. It is just down the street from the unbelievably quaint village of Mortehoe. Watersmeet's rooms are clean and sizable enough but kind of dull. The breakfast is the reason you would want to go because it's a terrific meal in a room with a spectacular view of the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Watersmeet is one of Devon’s finest coastal hotels. It is situated above a quiet, sandy beach on the rugged North Atlantic coast between the timeless village of Mortehoe and the bustling resort of Woolacombe - with its three mile long, award-winning beach. All but three of the bedrooms offer spectacular sea views taking in Combesgate Beach, Lundy Island and Baggy Point. A number of the bedrooms have original wooden balconies where you can sit and watch magnificent sunsets. The seaward side of the hotel offers one long, uninterrupted panorama and whether you’re reading the paper in the lounge or dining in the restaurant you can enjoy the most wonderful views of the sea and rolling surf. The very best pocket sprung beds; thick, luxurious duvets; crisp white linen and superior memory foam pillows ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. The food is of a very high standard and much of the ingredients are sourced within the county - with venison coming from Exmoor and seafood from Brixham. Right on the hotel’s doorstep is one of the country’s best surfing beaches; a top links golf course and, of course, the South West Coastal Path. ... more   less
