Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Watersmeet. The hotel has recently been refurbished and we were given a lovely, large room which was immaculate and boasted stunning sea views. The bathroom was also a good size and there were luxury l'occitane toiletries provided. We ate in the hotel restaurant on both nights and thoroughly enjoyed the food -... More

This is a hotel with real problems. They are charging £290 a night without dinner. For this you would expect good service and accommodation but you won't get either. We stayed in what was meant to be the best room - it has a stained bath ceil, the shower handle was lose and the bathroom was tiny. But our biggest... More

All bedrooms at the Watersmeet have amazing sea views except three. It is understandable to assume you stayed in the best room in the house, given the incredible sea views - you are not be the first to express the same. I have at least 8 favourites rooms! I note you visited during peak season and so fortunate to have... More

It started bad and just got worse. When we arrived there was no offer of help to take our luggage to the room which by the way cost £290 a night. The room had a tiny bathroom with a chipped bath and broken toilet seat. The location and views are amazing but the service and staff attitudes are terrible. We... More

A great hotel, staff wonderful, and we enjoyed staying there, but it is an expensive hotel and the food is not marvellous. The first night we ate in the brasserie, I had fish cakes and my husband had fish and chips , frozen chips, not even good ones. Fish poor too. The breakfast buffet is lovely, but the full English... This hotel has a great location which is difficult to be bettered. It affords fantastic panoramic views of the coast which are stunning. The hotel was newly decorated and I think it style is perfect for a relaxing stay- muted internal tones of greys and bieges suit the white washed exterior. We stayed in Room 21 which was reasonably sized... More

I was at WM a few week ago for an over night stay. At £290 for one night I thought the hotel would be better than it was. The room was ok, but only average IMHO. When we arrived we were given a tour of the public areas and were told to "grab a table" at breakfast which seemed nice... More

With a little bit of work on the basics this would be a simply amazing hotel. First up, the positives. The location is stunning. Nestled on the cliffs with a private rock stairway down to its own cove and with panoramic views out to Lundy, it really couldn't be better. And the recent refurb has been very tastefully done. We... This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel. We do love the hotel friendly staff and a perfect spot for the beach. The food is good but I think a few minor things could make it better fresh mushrooms please ! No need for tinned mushrooms at breakfast in the height of the season ! And maybe... More

I was lucky enough to spend a leisurely couple of hours here having lunch with a couple of very good friends one Saturday recently. The restaurant is comfortable, serene and most of the tables are situated by the large windows which look out to sea. Our food was delicious and plentiful and the staff took great care at the table... More

The Watersmeet hotel located on the quiet edge of Woolacombe is one of Devon's finest coastal hotels. It is perfectly perched on the cliff edge above a quiet, sandy beach known as Combegate beach. All but three of the bedrooms offer spectacular sea views to Lundy Island and Baggy Point. A number of the bedrooms have original wooden balconies where you can sit and watch magnificent sunsets. The seaward side of the hotel offers one long, uninterrupted panorama and whether you're reading the paper in the lounge or dining in the restaurant you can enjoy the most wonderful views of the sea and rolling surf. The very best pocket sprung beds; thick, luxurious duvets; crisp white linen and superior memory foam pillows ensure a comfortable night's sleep. The table d'hote and bistro restaurants offer a high standard of cuisine. 2 AA rosette awarded many of the ingredients are locally sourced. On the hotel's doorstep is one of the country's best surfing beaches; a top links golf course.
