Lovely, working farm, bed and breakfast. Anne and staff were very welcoming and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside for a fabulous breakfast in the peace and tranquillity. The en-suite shower room was a little on the small side but with all the beautiful countryside to explore we spent very little time inside. Looking forward to our next visit!

We stayed at the Burton Farmhouse b and b for two nights. On arrival Anne, the owner welcomed us warmly and showed us to our room.It was spotlessly clean, very large and sunny ,over looking the beautiful garden and patio area. The furnishings were olde world / country cottage style which suits the Victorian farmhouse well. We also had a good... More

Stayed for a one-off overnighter following a local lunch party but had failed to read some of the reviews. Obviously this B&B has potential as some of the reviews are good but the potential wasn't noticeable on our visit. Indifferent, if not poor, welcome on arrival and a very small bedroom overlooking a wall and a wheelbarrow full of weeds... More

Out of the way farmhouse. Nice quaint rooms, comfy beds, small bathrooms. Clean but a bit dark generally. Breakfasts were very nice, although on our last morning we opened a loaf of sliced bread to find it was very moldy! There was another loaf so we used that. Obviously not a very busy place as the honey had gone sugary... More

Instead of the eagerly awaited view of the estuary or country views, we had a glorious view of a flatroof and a farm outbuilding. The room décor staid, with dusty ornaments, Dicky miniscule TV that took an hour of fiddling to fix. On the upside the bed was comfy, the towels fluffy. In the tiniest showerroom the corners of the... More

My wife and I stayed at Burton Farmhouse during a 22nd wedding anniversary weekend. We both enjoy the countryside, dislike the big city environment. We particularly enjoy tranquility (snatched for short periods - we still have teenagers. Ahem) and honesty. We found both at Burton Farmhouse. A 325 acre working farm is going to be - well......, like a working... More

I nearly cancelled my booking when I read the very negative reviews on Tripadvisor but I'm glad I didn't. We actually had a very enjoyable five days here. Our 'superior' room was very big and clean with a large bathroom and a lovely view of the garden and the countryside beyond. The owner and the staff were extremely nice and... More

We arrived mid afternoon & the place looked deserted. We were shown to our room but not given anything in way of a tour of the place. Also we did not feel that we were made at all welcome by the proprietress. The room we booked was advertised as a superior room & is advertised in the brochure in the... More

We have visited this farmhouse on several occasions over the past few years for a cream tea, often taken in the beautiful garden, and always on a weekday. On Thursday 30th May we called in, hoping for a cream tea. The door was locked, so we rang the bell. No reply. A helpful girl working in the adjacent barn couldn't... More

Having stayed at a simply lovely B&B nearby the previous weekend, I needed to be down in Devon again for work, this time bringing my two daughters and a business associate from France. First, I booked a family room for me & the kids: to be told quite abruptly the next day there weren't any family rooms left. So I... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Burton Farmhouse is a specialist B&B generally catering for those of us "later in life". We do not place a specific age restriction on guests, however we suggest that guests are of retirement age and up. Our rooms are spacious, airy and light and have all the facilities you need, whether just for a short trip, or for a longer respite break. We can take of laundry, and even organise days out as required, plus much more. We offer long or short stay, please call for long stay prices. Burton Farmhouse can be found in the South Hams of South Devon - an area of outstanding beauty. Our 15th century farmhouse and its two pretty, self catering cottages nestle in South Huish valley at Galmpton near to the old fishing village of Hope Cove. Close by are the beautiful estuary towns of Salcombe and Kingsbridge, stunning beaches and coastal walks. Lovingly restored with a wealth of original features, character and charm, Burton Farmhouse is the ideal place for bed and breakfast, family holidays, pre school getaways, walking breaks and romantic escapes. The Farmhouse is also a licensed venue for weddings, civil partnership, renewal of vows and naming ceremonies. Originally owned by the Earl of Devonshire, Burton Farmhouse is set in 325 acres. It is a working farm with two flocks of pedigree breeding sheep - Polled Dorsets and Suffolks. The Rossiter family has farmed in the South Hams for more than 100 years. ... more   less
