This was our third journey to the Cottage and we looked upon it as a perfect way to chill out after a couple of difficult months at work. Not their fault that my car blew up shortly before reaching Totnes, and that my wife was in agony throughout with a severe ear infection. Chilling out therefore not easy, but the... more
I have met people all over the country (UK) who have visited Hope Cove and whenever I mention this small oasis of old world charm it is amazing how many of their faces light up and say "Did you stay at the Cotage Hotel, what a fabulous place" Hope Cove is special, and the Cottage Hotel is part of that... more
The Cottage on Hope Cove is a real retreat. Its not modern luxury decor but has all the best aspects of a traditional British hotel. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, the food is excellent with a set dinner that goes on for course after course and all in a restaurant where you can gaze out to sea. The... more
After reading the reviews on this hotel I was expecting it to need a little facelift. However, our experience was pretty poor. The location is lovely but the room, for the price of it which was around £140, was terrible. The bedspread was stained, the bed needed a new mattress, the tiny bathroom built into the room and my husband... more
The Cottage Hotel is the perfect retreat for those wanting to be near the sea, stay in comfort, enjoy fine food and relax in charming, homely surroundings. The balcony on our lovely sea-view room was just perfect for relaxing, soaking up the sun and watching the comings and goings of the beach-goers and the varied sea craft. The view is... more
We booked this hotel for a big family party, my father's 80th birthday. He grew up in Hope Cove, the location of the hotel, and we had many family stays in the hotel during the late 60's, 70's and early 80's. We were 20 in total, ranging from a 3 month old baby to the 80 year old grandfather and... more
The Cottage Hotel is in a great location overlooking the beach and sea at Hope Cove. The views are wonderful and its in walking distance from the local pub and post office. Hope Cove itself is close to Salcombe and Kingsbrige. The hotel carpark is down an extremely steep slope that one morning proved very difficult to get back up.... more
We stayed at the Hotel for a long weekend at the beginning of November 2007 - we were looking for somewhere with a sea view - and were not disappointed - the view from the hotel is spectacular. The hotel has been in the same family for over 30 years and the service was excellent - nothing was too much... more
This is a new part of Devon for us and was recommended by family and friends as being a beautiful location. They were not wrong! We decided on this hotel using reviews and brochures. The hotel has stunning views and it is certainly worth having a sea view. The rooms are high quality and very clean and well presented and appointed.The... more
