Good points: Plenty off road parking, welcoming, clean and fresh smelling laundry, spacious room, fresh milk in the fridge, good breakfast, home made bread (jams and butter), extra snacks in room, dressing gown in cupboard. Things not to my taste or expectation of a 5 star rated guest house: Hard hard bed, shower room across a 'private' gallery corridor (as... More

Thank you Maxine for making our stay so lovely. From the moment we walked in we felt comfortable. Your house is smashing and so inviting. We loved the room and found the bed very comfortable. We liked the skylights with the electric shutters - it's a shame we couldn't see the stars because of the clouds. The packets of crisps... More

We agree the first impression was not that good(moment of truth). Maxine made us welcome and advised well about the village and where to find an evening meal. The London Inn was excellent. Our room was comfortable and the firm bed ideal. The tea making facilities were good and the breakfast was OK. We were not that keen on having... More

Just returned from a 1 night stay. Fabulous place, great room, breakfast was wonderful using locally sourced food and Maxine and Chris the owners make their own bread, butter, preserves and cure their own bacon which made breakfast time. Lovely hosts and will definately use again ☺

I chose this BandB because of its proximity to a family wedding. Im not normally a BandB type but Maxine may have converted me. In all honesty the building looks pretty austere and to a degree uninviting, but once that door opens and you see the exceptional attention to detail in every corner you look and marvel at the level... A great B&B on the edge of Dartmoor. The B&B is a converted school and was nicely furnished. The room had all the facilities you would expect. Maxine and Chris were very friendly and welcoming. I am gluten-intolerant and they very kindly bought in some gluten-free muesli especially for me. The egg and bacon breakfast was delicious.

Just returned from a two night stay, would highly recommend a stay in this superb B&B. We took the option of evening meals which were excellent Chris should be very proud of his skills in the kitchen as the meals we had were of top quality restaurant standard. Bedroom was perfect. All around a faultless stay

We stayed for 3 nights at The Old School Guesthouse. Our hosts Maxine and Chris, were extremely friendly and welcoming and the accommodation was spotless and comfortable. The breakfasts were great with lots of choice. The attention to detail is evident and along with the decor makes for a 5* experience.

Best guest house we've ever been! Maxine, the owner, is lovely! She makes you feel at home, not to mention the best omelette I've ever had. We didn't explore Dartmoor as the main aim of our trip was to visit the Eden Project (an hour away) and we were only there for the weekend. Maxine is always full of ideas... More
