We have stayed at this hotel 4 times now which is why we held our wedding there recently. The rooms are spacious and inviting, the staff are excellent and the food is outstanding. Their attention to detail makes their customer service one of the best I've experienced in the UK. Nothing is too much trouble and the memories are always... more

Bit of a mixed review to be honest - the building itself is beautiful, set in a lovely wooded valley, gardens excellent. Bit of a hairy drive through incredibly narrow country lanes - SatNav came in handy. Our room (Gardenia) was large and tidy, huge bed, good size but (hot and steamy) bathroom - not much of a view, just... more

Stayed at this hotel last weekend for a wedding and had a wonderful time. Our room, Orchid, was one of the attic rooms which seem to disappoint some other reviewers, but we thought it was charming. Really comfy bed, stunning views, mineral water and fruit in room. The bathroom was very small, and the shower of the hand-held variety, but... more

We decided last minute to go down to Devon a day early and so booked the hotel last minute. We found a good price on the internet and phoned the hotel who matched it. The hotel was a bit difficult to find but we got there eventually; down some really little roads. It was worth the search. When we walked... more

My husband and I booked this hotel for three nights. On arrival, first impressions are favourable. The building is charming and the grounds extensive and well cared for. However, from then on things went rapidly downhill. The bedroom we were allocated was in the attic. Our so called "scenic views" consisted of a tiny window which we had to climb... more

This is a wonderful place to stay My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights over Easter 2007. The hotel is situated in a delightful location deep in the Devon countryside, yet handy for the coast and beautiful walks. The hotel is a wonderful old house but with all modern amenities. Our room was on the top floor with... more

Stayed for three nights in the Wisteria room which overlooks the main drive (good room). Has a nice 'small & friendly' feel about the hotel, staff were helpful. The evening meals were good, and extras (including drinks) were reasonable, especially as there are no other pubs or restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was good, albeit the service a little 'hit... more

We stayed two nights at this hotel only booking two days before arrival. After a bad experience with a very disappointing hotel in Cornwall this hotel was just what we needed. We were up-graded to a superior room (Wistaria) and had beautiful views from our bedroom window. The room was large and very nicely furnished and, although the bathroom was... more

Beautiful hotel - impeccable service with staff who make you feel special from the moment that you arrive. Our room (Peony) was a standard room - we had the same problems as a previous reviewer - difficult to maintain a steady temperature and no shower - only a bath. Situated at the rear of the hotel, we were disturbed in... more
