We got the last available room in this hotel on a busy bank holiday weekend - maybe the room we had was an 'in case of emergency' room, as it was very dated. On the plus side, there was plenty of hot water, the hotel was quiet (although we could hear the adjoining bathroom water noise clearly from our early-rising... More

Third break here within a year - once again - lovely room - this time with balcony - advise always to upgrade the room options - it is certainly worth it and you won't be disappointed - the hotel since we first visited has the advantage of the outside sun terrace now built - and looking smart - food again... This hotel is OK but will no doubt be eclipsed by the Premier Inn being built next door. It's not cheap (we paid £250 for 2 nights) and it is looking tired. Staff are very helpful but unless you're looking for an over 60s (or even 70s) experience it probably won't be for you.

Thank you for your comments. We constantly review our accommodation standards and annually invest in our bedroom stock. The front entrance is earmarked to be redecorated in the coming months. I think we eclipse our competitors as we offer excellent customer service and a memorable and relaxing holiday experience Many Thanks Andrew More

We saw an advert in the paper and booked on line for a week-end break. The hotel has a splendid location on the esplanade within 5 minutes walk of the town centre. On the Saturday night there was first class entertainment with a country singer called Suzanna Shore. Very good

We stayed for 5 nights on a self drive holiday & as we were hotel hopping this August from Cornwall to Devon, this was the best by far. Fair enough the entrance isn't the most inviting but once inside we couldn't have been happier. Our large seaview room was superb & the food very enjoyable. If I had to find... More

We booked online on the way to Devon for a short weekend break. We did not even know our destination let alone accommodation when we left home. We booked online and it was smashing. From the moment we stepped inside I knew we had made a good choice. Professional welcoming reception staff. Lovely clean room with modern facilities (Victorian Building)... More

Amazed that such a prominent site could be occupied by a shabby, neglected building. The exterior is desperately in need of renovation, the entrance is obscure, signage poor and the grounds in desperate need of a good gardening team. Difficult to see just what the Imperial is trying to be. I live locally but this place totally lacks any local... More

Thank you for posting your comments. We have recently built a new patio at substantial cost and a new retail menu. By your comments this was not to your liking. Kind Regards Andrew More

We enjoyed a very good Monday to Friday break at this hotel on a Shearings coach trip. We chose the trip/hotel for its location and being one of the Coast and Country group. We were pleasantly surprised with the room which was at the front of the hotel facing towards the park and town. This side of the hotel is... More
