We enjoyed a very good Monday to Friday break at this hotel on a Shearings coach trip. We chose the trip/hotel for its location and being one of the Coast and Country group. We were pleasantly surprised with the room which was at the front of the hotel facing towards the park and town. This side of the hotel is... More

We stayed in Exmouth on the seafront for a three night weekend break at the end of July 2014. We chose the Imperial Hotel run by Shearings as part of their Coast and Country chain as we had stayed there two years before early in the season and quite enjoyed it. We then paid a supplementary charge and stayed in... More

Just returned from a five day break at this hotel. We were lucky enough to have good weather and found the outside facilities excellent with lovey gardens and an attractive patio all looking out over the sea. The evening meals were adequate the breakfasts excellent. The room was clean and had all the necessary facilities. The staff were very helpful.... More

the overall opinion of our stay just last week. the hotel is certainly in great need of a facelift arriving at the front of the hotel what a letdown from view on line which is a side view. facing the sea. The gardens were lovely the patio area nice at first glance but but very shabby with rotting gutters and... More

We returned to this hotel for a weekend break; we had been disappointed with the food at the group's hotel in St Mawes and wanted to see if the Imperial's standards had been maintained from a previous visit last year. Happily it was. The choice was reasonable, the vegetables were fresh rather than canned, and the food appeared to have... More

Our upgrade to a superior room was well worthwhile as the balcony and the view made the visit extra special and our minor issues were resolved promptly. Food and service was very good but I must ask the question why the carpet in the room had to look so shabby, even dirty and marked...surely the hotel has a carpet cleaning... More

Have just spent a comfortable, very pleasant week at the Imperial. A Coast&Country Hotel it is a bit tired in places but the public areas are fresh and clean. Bedrooms and en suite could have benefitted from a freshen up and update. Staff very efficient and friendly and seem to genuinely want their guests to enjoy themselves and be comfortable.... More

We enjoyed our short break at The Imperial Hotel booked through Coast and Country, Monday until Friday and took the advice of many of our fellow Tripadvisor reviewers and booked a sea view room which had a super balcony. All the meals were satisfactory and with my wife being vegetarian this is quite high praise. However as with many hotels... More

The Imperial Hotel is one of the Shearings Group hotels and is great value for money. Our room was comfortable and quiet, the staff obliging and friendly, and the food excellent. We enjoyed the sea views from the smart lounge and terrace and admired the unexpectedly grand neo-classical dining room. Don’t be put off by the rather tired and institutional... More
