We stayed for 2 nights using 2 rooms. Loved the building on arrival and fantastic views over the bay and first impressions were good - beautifully decorated Xmas trees in the lounge and reception area and also the dining room all looked very festive and pretty. We liked the size of our rooms on the first floor. We aren't fussy... More

We stayed two nights at the Barn whilst visiting family and unfortunately what we were expecting to be a pleasant well appointed 4-star B&B was anything but the case. For £150 we were put into a cramped room so small we were forced to constantly step over or around furniture straight from a 1940s jumble sale. The room was musty,... More

We arrived around 5.30 pm and no one answered the doorbell so we had to telephone to be let in which wasn't ideal. The hotel is beautifully situated with fantastic views of the sea. We were allocated room 2 which is a superior sea view room. It was very spacious and conveniently had direct access to the garden which was... More

We rang the door bell 3 times when we arrived and no response. Only when I accessed the email confirmation to find the phone number and call did the owner answer the phone and then come and answer the door- not a great start to our stay! What a shame, this could be a lovely place to stay- but wasn't.... More

We stayed at the Barn while in Exmouth seeing friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the 'superior' room which had a lovely view out over the sea. The breakfast was nice, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It wasn't 5* but we weren't looking for that, but what we found we were pleased... More

Please save your money, this "hotel" ? Is to die for, if you read the reviews or hotel blog. The place is basically a sham, boasting of amenities that do no longer exist I.e. 2 acres, putting green, evening dining and most importantly comfort. The room we stayed in was advertised as "Superior" but was found to be filthy, wall... More

On our arrival we had to wait several minutes at locked front door until a young guy opened and let us in. Since we were early our room wasn't yet cleaned so we were shown the breakfast room , self service bar and our uncles bed room on the first floor. I saw the yellow brownish stains on the pillows... Lovely old building of historic importance but oh so tired. We were surprised on our arrival at 3pm to find the front door locked and had to ring the bell for admittance. After a wait we were welcomed by a lovely young man (Sam was his name I think) who apologised for the delay but he was on the other... More

We were really looking forward to our stay here as the pictures of the hotel looked so nice. We were however disappointed. The hotel and room was spacious and generally clean with fresh towels daily. Tea and Coffee facilities we also refreshed daily. The location was lovely and you had a view of the sea from the bedroom and the garden.... More

Wonderful location overlooking the sea. Reasonable walk into town though there is an hourly bus and "land train". Room (single overlooking the garden) was clean and comfortable. A few minor maintenance issues like windows very difficult to open or close. Guests in next door room could be heard speaking and the fire-door right outside my room kept banging. Guests were...
