Despite previous negatives, we enjoyed our break at this hotel. We travelled with Brent Thomas coaches from South Wales, our room was clean, comfortable and the bathroom had an excellent shower. The staff were efficient and most helpful. OK meals were at set times but that can be expected, if anyone wants meals at anytime then stay at bigger hotels!... More

We have just returned home today after a four night stay (6th June - 10th June). It is concerning to read the recently posted review with regards to the apparent 'norovirus' experience by the coach group in question. Our own coach group numbered 32 passengers, but when returning home, this was diminished to just 24, which we learnt from chatting... More

There is no evidence that the illness originated in the hotel and indeed we are aware of outbreaks of similar illness in numerous towns throughout the country. These are what are known as “small, round, structured viruses” or SRSV viruses. They are usually of the Norwalk or Rota variety. They are extremely infectious and are usually spread by sneezing and... More

Returned home from a four night stay at this hotel yesterday (7th June 2015). The stay was part of a 5 day break with Alfa Travel. First of all I must say that Alfa Travel were excellent, the coach travel and driver were very reliable (and did what they said on the can). The trips out were very good and... More

I am sorry that you were disappointed with the shower pressure and the food at the Cavendish Hotel. I am sure that, as with the television and the hair dryer, these problems could also have been addressed had you reported them to the Manageress or the reception. The lounge was closed as it had to be cleaned and fogged after... More

Just returned from my stay at this Hotel. Room very dismal lookout 3 brick walls, not a good start. This was my 3rd visit to an Alfa Hotel and not up to the standard by any means to the previous two unfortunately. Room adjacent to lift [pinging up and down constantly] bath shower not helpful in your late seventies [had... More

This was a coach holiday with Alpha Holidays. I was very pleased with my single room. Everything I needed except that it was a bit gloomy, as the room faced North. A more powerful reading light would have been useful. I was pleased to have sheet and blankets, not a duvet. I didn't like the evening meals. I thought all... More

A group of 4 of us have just returned from this lovely seafront hotel. Although quite dated it was clean, warm and the food (vegetarian) was very good. Adrian our waiter looked after us very well indeed. The entertainment was good. I had a single room and although the views weren't great the room was perfectly adequate. I did have... More

This was our second visit to this hotel. We love the location and town. We had a problem with the first room but were quite happy with the alternative room offered. Food was good and our waiter first class. We had problems with the heating whilst we were there but eventually it got sorted. The pillows weren't brilliant on our... More

Just back from 5 days at the Cavendish. Hotel was full with 3 coaches in but service was excellent, our waitress couldn't do enough for us. Ricardo and Carla in the bar were always friendly and efficient, just a shame there was no cider available (in Devon?!). Good entertainment, yes you could here it in your room but it finished... Just come back from 5 days at the Cavendish. We were not the easiest bunch to accommodate as my husband is disabled. We travelled with our two daughters and their husbands. Firstly our coach driver Lawrence was an absolute gem keeping us entertained with his "absolutely true - would I tell you a lie" stories and his excellent driving, he... More
