My husband and I were grabbing a few more days away on the spur of the moment. We were so thrilled with Tarr Farm Inn and had a wonderful relaxing 3 days in beautiful surroundings. It is in an ideal situation for walking and the rooms are very comfortable, with everything you might need and more! The staff are very... More

We stopped here for a drink after a walk with the dogs. People around us had waited more than 40 minutes for two bowls of Chios despite the man asking where they were the staff weren't worried at all didn't even offer them for free. I appreciate they were only chips they did look nice when they turned up bit... More

Tarr Steps is an ideal spot for a picnic. Excellent food and drinks [including real ales] are available at the Inn, which is well run and reasonably priced. Taking folding chairs or ground rugs would be useful. Very peaceful location and safe place for paddling. A location to visit again and again, but traversing the ford in anything but a... More

We booked 2 nights 'last minute' so got the room significantly cheaper than the advertised rate. The setting is perfect especially as we had 2 dogs - who slept in our car. We would definitely go back. Food was good but were disapponted as the advertised onion soup had 'run out'.It would have been nice to have some complementary bread... More

We ate here one Friday evening and having regard to its AA rating our expectations were quite high. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Whilst the restaurant was not particularly busy, it seem like ages that we had to wait for our food. When it arrived, I was disappointed that mine was not hot, only moderately warm. I asked my friends to... More

We are regular visitors to the area and visited on a busy Saturday evening. We had pre booked a table but as it was such a beautiful night we asked if we could eat outside, this request was met without any fuss. We sat in a lovely table in the treetops which had a super view of Tarr Steps. The... More

Note - They serve lunch 12-3 (12-2:30 in winter) but they serve cream teas till 5pm (they look delicious) it was a lovely warm sunny day, not too hot, about 22 degrees, we sat out in the back garden over looking the steps & enjoyed a Slow Belly Roast Pork, with crackling & all the trimmings, it was very tasty... At the outset let me say that I appreciate the potential problems of this place. It is miles from anywhere and the layout of the buildings inside is historic and cramped. The good points - the staff were friendly and helpful though hampered by the layout when taking orders. We went for lunch and the food that my companion ordered... More

Stopped here for drinks and lunch after a walk around Tarr Steps. The views from the garden are amazing. Lunch was OK, good pub grub served hot and with a smile, worth having it and a cool drink sitting in such a fabulous setting.

We had a couple of nights on Exmoor and this is a great spot away from it all - the same could be said of Exmoor come to think of it! Yes the furniture and decor is a tad dated but the room was perfect for our needs - and probably everyone else's too as they think of everything with... More
