We stayed here during the bank holiday weekend in August 2015, apologies for the delayed review! My partner and I stayed in the beautifully decorated Willow room which boasts a very comfortable four poster bed and a decent sized room. The bathroom was lovely, ornate detailing on the suite. However it did lack a stand up shower but we did... More

Spent a fantastic break here, as a couple. It's a lovely 'get away from it all' place, amidst all the trees and countryside. Our room was great, views to die for, tranquility, decor in our room was period, down to the little wooden step to get into bed! Breakfasts were very substantial and service prompt. The evening meal was always... More

Loved this place- we were late so were upgraded! given a room with a stunning view of starry skies at night and coloured hills at dawn. Great bed and i suffer from soft flocky beds!) lovely big room, spacious bathroom, wide choice at breakfast. Hotel has the loveliest setting in a wooded remote valley and the friendliest hosts. I could... More

We stayed here for a wedding reception and it was fantastic. Mark and Pat are lovely hosts and they really made the reception a personal experience for the happy couple. The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable as is the rest of the hotel. The food was excellent (we had a lovely high tea and a four course dinner in... More

Although we arrived after the high season, the hotel was warm and welcoming and Mark and Pat were excellent hosts. They made us very welcome. As the hotel was not crowded we had personal attention of the highest level through our entire visit. Justin, the chef, was also first class, offering us local produce cooked as he/ we wanted it,... We arrived exhausted at the end of a long hike from Porlock Weir. The owners were so welcoming and upgraded our room simply out of generosity. We decided to eat dinner at the Hotel rather than going back down the hill as we had planned and our decision was rewarded with an excellent meal. We spent a delightfully quiet night... More

Overall very good. An amazing location with beautiful grounds. Fabulous large family room for very reasonable price. Food good. Rather quirky decor in dining room though. Slightly disjointed flow to the hotel, but really helpful, friendly staff great at looking after and out for children. Would definitely recommend.

Everything has been said by the previous reviewer Judi L. As part of the photography group we had a very comfortable few days stay and I have to say I really appreciated the way Mark learned all our names so quickly! We were made to feel part of the family.

A group of 10 friends have just spent the week at Heddon's Gate on a photography 'break'. We were looking for somewhere that would be quiet and away from the crowds and this was the perfect spot. Breakfasts were excellent, as were dinners - we now need to starve for a week. The menu remained basically the same throughout the... More

Had a fantastic weekend break here. Mark and Pat were lovely and welcoming - gave great advice on local walks and just generally ensuring that I enjoyed my stay. Very peaceful grounds and so pretty - even in the rain! Great food - I ate in the restaurant on both nights I stayed and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Lovely views of... More
