The walk from the Inn along the river down to the sea is has become a favourite for us and the dogs. With a sharpened appetite for lunch we loved the mussels and the beer. Vegetables with the chicken pie could have been more than just a few peas, but not to worry. The trifle was splendid. We didn't book,... More

After stomping around the valley of the rocks for 2 hours I was ready to eat like a bear! Or a bear. Arrived at The Hunters at 2.40pm food is 12-3 Winter set menu. Just in time. The Barman was super efficient as I was quick to order and grab my seat. The place was full of walking types all... More

We stayed recently at the hunters inn it was a beautiful setting almost magical it rained and the wind howled but it was still such a lovely setting it did not matter. Our only disappointment was that we only had one night booked. We had dinner in the hotel which was lovely and a good price, breakfast was very good... More

Thank you for your kind review that you posted - we do appreciate your comments. Room 1 has been upgraded recently, as have a number of other guestrooms and has proved to be very popular with guests. We are presently upgrading the frontage of the inn, during a slightly quitter spell and before the school half term holidays. Even on... More

Visited just before New Year having been for a lovely walk, wanted to have a light lunch which in the end we did not bother as it became apparent that there was real delay for food orders due to some staff shortage and a large number of customers to be serviced, average wait we where told was 45 minutes and... We apologise for your experience but we always inform guests when there is a delay so that the decision to place an order is taken by customers in this knowledge. Unprecedented numbers of customers arriving, many in groups of between 10 and 20,most of whom had not booked a table, placed extraordinary stress upon the staff during a short period... More

Epic location and a fantastic little pub but after entering the establishment with tired legs and empty belly's we were told there was no food being served unless we had reserved a table. Very disappointing as a bowl of chips would have done and the Hunters came highly recommended by friends. Instead we walked the coastal path back to the... More

We are so sorry that we were unable to offer you a table after having enjoyed a long walk to see us. The week that you came was unprecedented in terms of the numbers of people visiting us - most hungry and thirsty after a long walk, expecting to find a vacant table. The school holidays combined with clement weather... More

I write this review reluctantly. I've been coming to stay at the Hunters Inn for around 25 years, when I first found it by accident and fell in love. It is my private 'bolt hole' where I go to escape. The building is lovely, like a Swiss chalet hotel. And the location is incomparably beautiful. So why my reluctance? To... More

We booked a table in the restaurant, on New Years Eve, for lunch. We had a good table in the window, overlooking the garden. We ordered at the bar, service was slow and the frittata was not as the menu suggested, no blue cheese or leeks (only mushrooms and spinach). We were ignored by the overstretched staff behind the bar... More

We take your comments very seriously and thank you for taking time to post this review. The Hunters Inn proved to be an extremely popular destination over the Christmas period, partly due to the school holidays but also the glorious weather that we enjoyed. Due to our location it is impossible to source extra staff at a moment's notice, such... More

The hunters Inn is close enough to walk to the north Devon coast. We only stopped for a pint burt the staff were friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Whole heartedly would recommend! Parking is easy in the car park opposite.

The comments that you make are very kind and we thank you for taking the time to post this review. The valley is a stunning place to visit, all year round and people come from far and wide to enjoy the locality. We are fortunate to have ample parking both on and off road which is certainly necessary during the... More

We have visited before and now we live in North Devon we are fortunate to start going regularly. Today was our second time but the first sitting inside. We sat by the window with very grey skies and drizzle but it didn't matter. The garden is beautiful and the amount of bird life is amazing! Peacocks too. I could have... More

The Hunters Inn is a marvellous location, a wonderful pub but somewhere along the way its pricing/portion size has gone awry. Called today for a beer after a short walk along the coast path, we forget to take any sustenance with us, so with the beer we ordered a bowl of chips each. Big mistake, the bowl was no bigger... Thank you for your comments which we take very seriously. The menu has been updated over the last few weeks and unfortunately the portion sizes have occasionally varied, more commonly on the generous side. We have many comments referring to the generosity of the portions that we serve and the fact that guests are unable to finish their meals. Sadly... More
