Set in a tranquil wooded valley, we found this a beautiful building to stay in, we had room 9 top floor, very quiet slept well, spacious with delightful views of the main garden and valley beyond. Felt relaxed as soon as we arrived, each member of staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble, we think grandparents... More

We arrived as a group with our dogs for a long weekend of walking and relaxing and could not have found a better place. After a hairy drive down the country lanes we were pleased to see the sight of The Hunters awaiting us, what an impressive building. The bar and lounge area has been recently renovated and it was good... Really lovely people running this hotel in the very latter stages of refurb, ready for Mothers Day 2015. They were open up front (dust in bar but rooms refurbed and spotless - all true), provided a really warm welcome and even let us stay late on check out day to shower after a coastal run. Room was huge, flat screen... More

Many thanks for your kind review about the Hunters Inn. We have managed to run a fairly normal service throughout all the recent building work and also hit the deadline of Mothering Sunday! The refurbishment has proved to be a great success with the re-positioning of the bar and room for more dining tables. A second fireplace has been opened... More

After our accommodation locally fell through we arrived at short notice with two small children, the Hunters Inn were there to pick up the pieces. They made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to help us out, doing everything to make sure we were comfortable and well looked after! We ate in the resturant and the... More

Welcoming friendly staff, nice room, fab food and great beer; all wrapped up in a picture post card location. The walk down to the beach is truly stunning. We had the most relaxing weekend away from all the hustle and bustle of modern life. "Would we go back?" is not the question; rather "When can we go back?" Thanks for... More

The walk from the Inn along the river down to the sea is has become a favourite for us and the dogs. With a sharpened appetite for lunch we loved the mussels and the beer. Vegetables with the chicken pie could have been more than just a few peas, but not to worry. The trifle was splendid. We didn't book,... More

We stayed recently at the hunters inn it was a beautiful setting almost magical it rained and the wind howled but it was still such a lovely setting it did not matter. Visited just before New Year having been for a lovely walk, wanted to have a light lunch which in the end we did not bother as it became apparent that there was real delay for food orders due to some staff shortage and a large number of customers to be serviced, average wait we where told was 45 minutes and... We apologise for your experience but we always inform guests when there is a delay so that the decision to place an order is taken by customers in this knowledge. Unprecedented numbers of customers arriving, many in groups of between 10 and 20,most of whom had not booked a table, placed extraordinary stress upon the staff during a short period... More

Epic location and a fantastic little pub but after entering the establishment with tired legs and empty belly's we were told there was no food being served unless we had reserved a table. We are so sorry that we were unable to offer you a table after having enjoyed a long walk to see us. The week that you came was unprecedented in terms of the numbers of people visiting us - most hungry and thirsty after a long walk, expecting to find a vacant table. The school holidays combined with clement weather... More
