Your comments are very kind and appreciated by all here at the Hunters Inn. The ploughman's lunch that you mention is very popular and a light bite that we keep on throughout the year. The staff take a pride in the welcome that they give to customers and it is good to know that this is appreciated - thank you.... More

My wife and I popped in on a wet Sunday evening whilst returning to ilfracombe, intending to have meal after first having a "drying off" drink. Entered via Bar and waited for a young chap who had seen us enter to cease entering details on the electronic till. He just kept pressing more buttons without any eye contact or so... More

I am sorry that your experience was disappointing and would like give you some background information. Having made some enquiries I learn that the young chap concerned was unwell and had to go home before the end of service. He had been moved off waiting duties to the bar as he was unable to cope with the level of service... More

We first stayed at the Hunters Inn 30 years ago and have been back a few times now over the intervening years. Last time was 5 years ago when the new dining area with picture window had been created. We have just returned from a stay over the August Bank holiday. Wow it's got even better, the bar has been... More

How wonderful that you have visited the Hunters Inn so many times over the last 30 years. Over that period there have been many changes as you say, and we have very much continued in this vain. We have invested time and money into the fabric of the building because we feel that the Hunters is living history, a place... More

Amazing place, peaceful, far away from traffic, very helpful staff, the best english breakfast we ever had. Great starting point if you want to visit North Devon. Heddon's Mouth just 20 min walk from Hunters Inn. Beautiful views!

Your comments are very kind and much appreciated by all the staff. If you want a destination that is away from it all then the Hunters Inn will certainly fit the bill! Traffic and crowds we don't have, just clean air and beautiful surroundings and at the end of the day a pint in the warm surroundings of the Hunters... More

We stayed in sunflower lodge. It's attached to the hotel but fine self catering facilities. Which worked well as the bride stayed with us on the eve of her wedding and prepared with us next morning - lots of tea coffee - and champagne. The setting is spectacular, the staff most obliging and friendly. All was so well thought out... More

Thank you for the review of the Hunters Inn that you kindly posted. It was lovely that you could all stay together, the night before Lisa's wedding in Sunflower Lodge. It has now been open for a year and is proving to be very popular, all year round. The day of the wedding was unbelievably hot with clear skies, perfect... More

The Hunters Inn is in a stunning location, with wonderful walks & drives nearby. When we visited lunch service had just finished so we contented ourselves with a Cream Tea, portions were excellent with large scones, plenty of good preserve & cream & good hot coffee & tea, my only niggle was that scones had been warmed in the microwave... Went to The Hunters Inn today, sadly what used to be at atmostpheric country pub has been turned into yet another bland Gastro pup.Food waiting time was just short of two hours!.Would have been hard to find a satisfied customer today.

Thank you for your review of our 'Dull Gastro Pub' The Hunters Inn used to have appalling toilets, threadbare carpet, flock wall paper and lighting so bad it was difficult to read a menu. If that is your idea of an atmospheric pub there are many more just like it for you to frequent. We have relocated the original bar... More

We wanted to visit Heddon's Mouth so took a small road that turned into a track. At the point that it almost seemed to run out we came across this beautiful pub. The location is glorious, the gardens lovely and it is a mile to walk to a beautiful cove.

A truly beautiful location up in the hills. Inn is stunning to look at. Inside is clean and comfortable and spacious. We had room 4, basic twin but was lovely. It has a balcony with great views, but it did have some stagnant water around it which wasn't nice. Shower room lovely. Beds comfy. Free bottled water, tea, coffee, biscuits.... More

Manic Sunday. They were so busy that they stopped serving any food at all. Shame really, because we had gone there to eat. Ok, we should of booked, but even so, it's an off the beaten track pub that you have to make an effort to get to. We will go again later in the year and see if it's... More
