A gem placed in the Exmoor Countryside. Food was excellent and the rooms were decorated to a very high standard. Staff were always helpful and any information requested was timely and very useful. Will return with friends in order they can experience the great ambience

Staying at the Old Rectory is something special. You are immediately made welcome, and by the end of your stay you feel like you have been at a private house party rather than staying in a hotel. Complimentary Afternoon tea and cake is a big bonus, and worth getting back for, and the general standard of the food is superb.... More

Wonderful quiet location. tastefully decorated and furnished. Tranquil garden. It felt like we were the personal guests of our hosts Huw &.Sam . They work really hard to ensure the service is 100% and bring their professionalism and personality to every encounter. For the evening meal Guests are asked to assemble for drinks and make selection from the menu at... More

We were greeted warmly the moment we arrived at this peach of a hotel, thus setting the tone for the whole weekend. The decor and ambience of the entire place is beautiful with great attention to detail. The garden is also a joy. We are real foodies and also like good wine and were delighted on both fronts. The food made use... More

We booked The Old Rectory for a week in August. We wanted somewhere grown up, child free (I'm a teacher so you can see why!) and with style and comfort, to compensate for the fact that my partner was only allowed to take one measly week off over the summer. We were not disappointed. The reviews here are almost all... More

We,ve been a couple of days at this property. We appreciated very much the quietness of the place, the kindness and professionality of the management Team and the perfect location, surrounded by wonderful gardens, in the heart of Exmoor. An excellent cuisine completed an already superlative profile We'll be back again ! Sandra & Maurizio

Peace, quiet, comfort all in one package. The team at the Old Rectory were all working hard to make sure that our stay was everything it should be. The hotel is located in a beautiful area with good walks to be found

Our first time at the Old Rectory following a recommendation and we will definitely go again. Very comfortable rooms, lovely food and friendly service. Sam and Huw really look after their guests and the hotel has a feeling of a home rather than a hotel. Well situated for some stunning coastal walks.

There is a kind of super-gravity in this part of Devon which forces even the most hyper person to relax and entirely forget the workaday world. I like the hilly, mizzle-softened scenery and the spectacular cliff walks. To echo a recent reviewer, the food is not innovative, which I mean as a real compliment. I’ll be happy if I never... More

I rarely return to the same hotel twice - but The Old Rectory is an exception. It is a haven of tranquility and it was great to be back there this week to enjoy Huw and Sam's wonderful hospitality. They, and their lovely ladies, know how to make a precious break really special.
