Our first visit to this very special hotel but I am sure it will not be our last. Huw and Sam looked after us wonderfully and their lovely team of ladies deserve a very special mention too. Our room (Heddon) was so comfortable and the days were so relaxed that we were so sorry to leave. This really is a... More

This was our second trip to the hotel and it had improved, if that is possible since our last stay. A lovely hotel in a beautiful part of the country. The orangery had been added since our last visit and it was a lovely place to relax during the afternoon for tea and cake after a busy day sightseeing and... More

Our 2nd visit and already planning our 3rd. A wonderful find quite close to home but seems a world away. We enjoy everything about the Old Rectory. The welcome, the food, the beautiful rooms, the great location. Thank you Sam and Huw. We will be back!

This is a great location for walking and sight-seeing in North Devon. The rooms are comfortable and the service is generally friendly. However, this is not a place for foodies as the main meals are unimaginative, and the fact that all guests sit down together means that there is a long gap between courses. The piped music in the dining... More

We were very disappointed to read your review and to learn that you think our hotel is over hyped. Fortunately your views are not shared by any of the other guests who have reviewed their experiences here nor by the judges from Visit England. This is our 10th visit to this fantastic hotel. We had such a lovely warm welcome from Huw, Sam and all the staff. We are lucky to have found this beautiful hotel and every time we go it is like meeting up with old friends. We stayed in the Heddon suite this time, as like all the other rooms it... More

A small and very friendly hotel that provides a first class service. The food was excellent and the accommodation was extremely comfortable. I would highly recommend the Old Rectory Hotel and will certainly be returning sometime soon.

Simply the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Amazing food, really engaged owners who are both amusing and clearly dedicated to making sure their guests enjoy the place as much as they (clearly) do. Seriously good and very well-priced wine list and huge, restful and beautifully maintained gardens. If you are looking for a place to forget that life... More

We had a wonderful first stay here. We were made to feel very welcome. It was a relaxing place to spend time in and there are beautiful walks all along the coastal path nearby. The food was superb and wine list interesting and fairly priced.
