We would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates excellent food and drink and peaceful surroundings. Huw and Sam provide what is probably the best hotel experience we have ever had and we will definitely be returning.

Stayed here in July and would love to go back. The Old Rectory is a beautiful boutique hotel, deep in rural Devon, completely peaceful and luxurious, and we felt wonderfully looked after. Sam and Huw are the perfect hosts - thoughtful and relaxed - and have created a warm, welcoming and unstuffy atmosphere. The rooms are beautifully decorated (we had... More

Great small boutique hotel well run and in an excellent location for amazing coastal walks and the beautiful towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. Sam and Huw run a tight ship and are excellent hosts. Great wine list and the breakfasts in particular are very good indeed.

It is 4 years since we stayed at the Old Rectory Hotel and we should have been back much sooner. We thoroughly enjoyed it then and did so again this weekend. Huw and Sam are superb hosts. They really care about their guests. Rooms, facilities, food, service are all excellent. The location is brilliant for walks to Heddon's Mouth and... More

This hotel lived up to expectations. From the moment we entered the hotel we felt the friendly welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious, especially the bacon at breakfast. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the gardens are well kept and spacious and the orangery is a delight. We would thoroughly recommend .

This is an excellent hotel situated in a quiet area of North Devon. It has beautiful grounds with plenty of room to relax, especially when enjoying afternoon tea and cakes. If the weather is inclement there are various guest lounges (including an Orangery) to relax in. Our room was very spacious with plenty of storage, a lovely bathroom and a... More

Just had a four day break with my wife and my mum & dad. The hotel is very quiet in a secluded part of N. Exmoor. It has wonderful gardens with little places to sit in the autumn sun. The overall impression of the hotel is of a place in which everything has been considered, the decor, the comfortable lounges... More

We were greeted by Huw who showed us round the hotel and then served complimentary afternoon tea with a very nice slice of carrot cake. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. You feel like one of the family, it's like a home away from home. The food is very very good, well presented and delicious. Our room was a... More

We stayed for four nights at The Old Rectory and had a great vacation. Sam and Hugh were superb hosts and enriched our stay. The hotel is located in a small hamlet which feels a little 'out of the way' but there were numerous things to do and see in the immediate area. We stayed DB&B (plus afternoon tea and... More

We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us. We thoroughly enjoyed looking after you while you traced your family history in the local area and were thrilled that you found so many ancestors in the church yard next door to The Rectory. The room you stayed in, St Martins, is in fact our smallest room... More
