The landlady did us a good deal as we dropped in unannounced. I had a single room ,all clean and tidy with its own shower. My Mum had a double. Unfortunately she overlooked the kennels on a Full Moon and they howled at 3am. We had been warned by the barman at the White Horse in Exford that the hounds... More

We spent one night at Stockleigh Lodge on a quick getaway to Exmoor. The central location is ideal for exploring the countryside and there are places to eat within walking distance. The twin room was spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast home cooked and delicious. Welcoming hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Stabling is available for those wishing to enjoy... Stayed for a couple of nights whilst shooting nearby. Lovely hosts which made the stay. No tv in the room was a bit of a nuisance when your on your own. There was a large lounge which looked nice but was very cold. However I was the only guest, I'm sure would be warmer and more welcoming with more guests... More

We stayed here for two nights in August as a last minute trip to Exmoor over the bank holiday - so were pretty pleased to find something that was reasonable to stay in. If however we were booking a bit further in advance I may not rush back. It isnt that this is a terrible place to stay, but does... More

We spent the first week of June at Stockleigh Lodge and discovered Exmoor for the first time. The hosts gave us a warm welcome and good ideas for walking in the area. Our room was spacious and comfortable and it was equipped for making hot drinks. We loved the view of the garden from our room. The breakfasts were excellent... More

We stayed 10 nights last August & really do recommend Stockleigh Lodge: great warm welcome, very "British" atmosphere in this former hunting lodge, cosy bedroom with wonderful view on the park, plentiful tasty breakfasts adding opportunities to talk with the other guests, lots of helpful advice with the walks (including lending maps & taking us to our starting point &... Stockleigh lodge is a clean, friendly place to stay and is convenient for livery. It is a shame that our room was cold and the shower just dribbled. Breakfast was nice and views were nice. Gardens well kept and a short walk into Exford village.
