Beautiful location and nearby walks along the river. Rather disappointing food though, although they do have a decent selection. Good range of beers. Friendly staff. My advice would be to come here to rest and have a drink, go elsewhere for food.

Iydilic spot in the Exmoor National Park. Perfect for walkers, fishermen, twitchers and general lovers of the countryside. Very dog friendly. Good beer, excellent food at very reasonable prices. Venison steaks with Devon blue sauce recommended. Book a room with a decked balcony that overlooks the stunning gardens. Excellent moor, coast and river valley walks from the doorstep.

Arrived in Brendon around 6.30 pm feeling 'peckish. Took a chance on Staghunters for an evening meal; we were lucky and had the last available table. Decision on food to eat made we were amazed by the speed at which it arrived at our table, and very nice and tasty it was. We recommend it highly for the food quality... More

We did not stay at this hotel (although we would love to) we were camping in the Doone Valley, about 2-3 miles away. We turned up,no reservation,4 adults & 2 dogs,I was met by the very welcoming owner who was behind the bar,who was pleased to be able to fit us in even with the dogs (as this is walking country... This is everything a family run hotel should be! A nice relaxed, trusting atmosphere with friendly staff. Good beer, decent food, but most of all a really friendly relaxed atmosphere. This place has a lot of character.

Myself and my family visited again in May. This was our third visit to the Staghunters. We had the family room to the front opposite the river which is a really lovely room with spacious bathroom and which is very well appointed. My mum and dad had a room at the back overlooking the immaculate gardens which also benefits from... More
