We visited today which was a lovely day so the place was quite busy. A friendly welcome from the man on the bar we checked the menus and decided on a starter of creamy mushrooms in garlic with bread and butter and a ploughmans. One pint of bitter and a coffee. The bill came to around 18.00 pounds. The food... More

Myself and 2 friends stayed at the bunkhouse here in February 2014. Having spent a night camping on the moors following many km of walking (in February, not sure what we were thinking), we took the decision to spend the night in the bunkhouse here rather than try and camp again after a very long day walking. Upon reaching the... More

Go for the home made pies! Amazing size and gorgeous pastry! My boyfriend had the double cheeseburger which was also top. Only slight complaint is that it wasn't that warm in our little booth but nothing too serious. I hope to enjoy another pie soon.

We went recently as a family of 4 adults - we have not been to this pub/restaurant for several years. We were not disappointed! There is a very good choice of specials in addition to the menu and plenty of space. Everything is freshly prepared and good value for money. One of us had the liver special and was very... More

A lovely, relaxed country pub with good food. It is dog friendly and the staff were very friendly. It is well-priced food and on a sunny day is an absolute delight to have lunch/dinner at after a walk on the moor.

We booked two nights here as we were attending a wedding at the nearby Two Bridges Hotel. We chose to stay here as it was substantially cheaper than the Two Bridges (we paid £75 a night). Although it was much cheaper than the alternative, I still feel it was massively overpriced for what it was. On the way to the... More

Took a 12 mile stroll across the moors from Ivybridge to Princetown with my father in law and he had booked us in here for lunch where my wife and mother in law met us (they drove). The food was excellent, i had ham, egg and chips which had proper home cooked rustic chips and the wife had a sweet... More

A chance booking to stay in Princetown was made a we are so pleased with the choice. The evening meals were excellent and the breakfasts were superb. First prize goes to the homemade pies ( Beef &Stilton and the Chiken & White Wine) but the sausage and mash deserves a commendation. Three types of sausage and six types of mash... More

We popped in for lunch after a windy walk on the moor. Food and beer were great, staff and locals very friendly. Steaks were locally-sourced, perfectly cooked and very tasty. Good selection of children's meals - comfortable, great atmosphere and very family, dog and muddy boot friendly.
