I did not stay at the inn but went just for a meal. The rude female behind the bar made me feel unwelcome and unrealistic to expect to place an order for food at two minutes to 9 pm. I did not get a chance to look at the menu or the specials board and so guessed that pie and... More

The warning bell was the 10 mins it took to order food. A 45 minute wait and my husbands arrived- chips were cold carrots leathery. My meal wasn't what I ordered. Another 15 mins passed before mine arrived. Steak cold but well cooked and corn inedible. Really disappointing.

We stayed for a night in the bunkhouse for a night whilst walking. This is a little tired, but perfectly adequate. Electrical sockets are not available in the rooms - I had to leave my phone to charge in the common room. I got the impression this was discouraged. We had a table reserved, which was nice, and the menu... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in Princetown for a few days and decided on this pub for dinner on the first night. Felt like very much a locals pub when we first walked in, but soon realised we were wrong - staff and locals both very friendly and welcoming! We both had pies off the menu, and they were absolutely... More

Have dined here many times and I am never disappointed. Took my son for lunch, I had the pasty chips and salad, a very tasty pasty with lots of steak inside, thoroughly enjoyed it. My son had the bacon, black pudding and stilton salad, with new potatoes, it was very nicely presented. A couple of pints of jail ale and... More

One night, solo, in the 'Alpine Bunkhouse'. Soaked and chilled from heavy rain dousing, I enjoyed a good shower. But heating was there none - inquired at the bar, guy came to tinker with the boiler but to no effect. He was curt, avoided eye contact. No kettle in kitchen - felt impertinent even asking for one. No curtains, mildew... More

We were invited by friends to attend a dinner which held a promise of a lovely evening. Unfortunately the main course was served on cold plates but the vegetables didn't arrive until about 7 minutes later by which time the meat was cold. The beef was overcooked and dried out as though it had been repeatedly reheated. Although horseradish was... More

What more can one say other than excellent accommodation, service and food, Stayed 3 nights in the luxurious bed and breakfast accommodation, excellent large full English provided, great choice of evening meals, all of which large portions and of course excellent Cornish ales ( and a few others) real ales including Tribute and Dartmoor IPA, a proper still local Cyder... Always plenty of choice on the menu. Food is good quality and some dishes can be selected as smaller portions for those with smaller appetites. Very often busy so may need to wait but staff friendly and food worth the wait.
