Lydgate House is situated in Postbridge which is right out on the moor. The hotel is well sign posted and is found at the end of a narrow track. The location is beautiful with a river running at the bottom of the bank on which the house is situated. There is good car parking. We stayed in Dipper during a... More

We stayed at Lydgate House overnight whilst visiting family in the area. We had the Kingfisher room which was lovely - a very comfortable bed and an amazing view of the river from the window. The bathroom was a bit on the small side, but was equipped with decent toiletries and clean towels. If you sleep with the windows open... More

Lydgate House is in a beautiful area with wonderful walks from the door - muddy boots or wet gear can be left in the boot room. Being 500 metres from the road, it's very quiet; all I could hear at night was the East Dart river which runs through the grounds. Decor isn't particularly smart, but it's very comfortable, with... This is a smallish guesthouse in a quirky somewhat rambling building with rooms furnished comfortably but in a style that probably went out of fashion in the 1970s. I booked a double room (Housemartin) for single occupancy at a good price. My companion's single room (Wren) was small and rather dark so I definitely got the best deal! The dining... More

What a perfect spot in the heart of Dartmoor for a lovely place to stay. The room was just perfect a really lovely cosy little place and so peaceful we really did feel well rested after our stay. Very welcoming and accommodating owners who were brilliant. We stayed in the Kingfisher room which had a excellent view down to the... More

We found this hotel by accident looking on the internet. The hotel is off the road, quiet, beautiful rooms, outstanding food and service. We were down for ten days for a break and felt completely rested by the end of our stay. The hotel is set amongst beautiful trees and you can walk directly onto the moor from the front... More

After a long day of driving and walking I checked into the Lydgate hotel. My room was very clean, cozy with everything I needed. The grounds are great I took a walk with amazing views. Decided to have my evening meal in the local pub. Breakfast was great the next day with a great choice and stunning view. The only down... More

I had a brief stop here with my partner overnight on the way home from Plymouth. It is in a stunning location, away from the main road (there is a sign to a private track). There is a view out on to the moor, and lots of local wildlife to watch at breakfast. The kitchen was closed on Sundays and... More

If you are looking for a holiday in Dartmoor, it would be hard to better the location of this hotel, right by the Dart and well away from the roads. The only sound is the water rushing along and tumbling over the rocks. The hotel itself is comfortable, but I would hardly rate it as luxurious, as is described on... More
