The pub smelt of vomit and very smelly dog. The food was poor: badly overcooked fish, and a pie that tasted of salt and chemicals. The barman should learn not to call all women 'love', 'darling' etc all the time, it's really annoying!

We are disappointed to receive this review, and we do remember who you are. Your group of 13 come every year, and all enjoyed their meals. The dog had been outside in the rain and was only in because a previous customer had let her in - and she was put out as soon as you asked. We didn't think... More

The hotel is in an absolutely beautiful location and the rooms although cold and basic were fine for what we were after. However the food was diabolical, not home made, terrible quality and the chips were raw. I ordered a sirloin steak only to be told by an older gentleman working there (presumambly landlord) that they did not have any... More

This sort of review is not what Trip Adviser is about. We remember you well and believe that you wrote this review because you did not get your Sirloin and because we were extremely busy, and not what you expected. My husband took your order for the pie (as a replacement for the Sirloin) at the table, so why lie... More

Nestled in the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, the East Dart Hotel provides a perfect retreat from the world. Although this B&B is part of a hotel, it feels more like staying at your favourite aunt’s country cottage. Once you step through the front doors, you are transported into another world. This is the epitome of English hospitality. The house was... More

Thank you very much for your very kind words - it was so lovely to meet you both - it did prove to me that I have indeed forgotten most of my schoolgirl French! We hope you both had safe trips home, and that you managed to find the clotted cream locally! See you (both) again soon. More

Nice pub, drinks a little pricey and when the food came it was disappointing. What was considered to be a large ham, eggs and chips were Luke warm for over £9. Other means we're jacket potatoes and llasagne all only warm. Disappointing

I find it very disappointing to receive a review like this as it is obviously not our aim to give anybody a disappointing experience. Our drinks are competitively priced for the area (we know, we compare) and I don't understand how Ham, Egg and chips can be lukewarm! The Ham is obviously cold and the chips and eggs (yes you... Only stayed one night but had the most fantastic time! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our dog too! Beds were comfy and had the best night's sleep for a long time. It was refreshing to stay in a proper traditional English pub which is unspoilt by modern and inappropriate gimmicks.... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights in early October. Really enjoyed the stay - relaxed, friendly and the food was very reasonable and of a good standard. Great location and dog friendly too. We'll certainly be returning.

We chose this particular Hotel as we had heard it was Motorbike Friendly. That doesn't mean to say that it's full of Noisy Bikers just that if you do explore the lovely countryside, by Motorcycle, they have a nice covered area to hide it in at night and a drying room for your wet clothes. Very thoughtful. Accommodation was just... More

What a great b&b, lovely staff and comfortable rooms. Breakfasts are brilliant. Evenings in the pub are good, people talk to each other for a change. Special thanks to Paul and Rosie, and of course tyrone( ty ), had us stitches. We will be back soon

The East Dart Hotel is a splendid old coaching Inn right in the heart of Dartmoor. We received a warm welcome and all the staff were freindly and competent. We had supper. The food was very average. There is not much you can do with scampi and chips so this was fairly standard. Just average. The vegetarian lasagne was poor.... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I remember you well, as I served you myself - you sat on the corner table that we call A2. What a shame that, when I asked you if everything was OK with the meal, that you did not voice your opinion then, though I must say I disagree completely... More

We stopped here for drinks after walking on the moor. It was late afternoon but there were several people eating and a few cream teas being served all of which looked like good home cooked meals. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the Jail Ale which is a local brew was very good. Definitely worth stopping for.
