The Okehampton YHA is an excellent facility with a lot going on. We didn't eat but the building was spacious with free table tennis amongst other activities. Showers were warm and never busy and the bike hire on site was hugely useful and reasonable. Staff were friendly and its only a short walk into Okehampton itself. One of the best... More

We had planned to use this hostel as nothing more than a cheap bed for the night while we explored Devon, but it turned out that it was so fantastic it became more of the focus of the holiday itself than we had intended and we'll have to return to Devon to do more exploring another time. While the sleeping... More

36 of us stayed for a weekend at the Braken Tor youth hostel just up the road from the Railway sheds site in Okehampton. The accomodation was absolutely perfect for our requirements. It was clean and warm, the breakfasts and lunch we received were first class. The kitchen has everything you need equipment/utensils wise, and the wifi was an unexpected... More

We hired the hostel for a weekend (Escape to... booking) for a church group of 84 ladies (aged 19 to 87!). The hostel staff were so helpful from help with the booking, to answering lots of questions by phone and email before the weekend and during the time we were there. They couldn't have been more accommodating. As we were... More

What do you do when you have 3 grandchildren aged 7,8 and 12 to keep them entertained during the summer holidays? I expect the Youth Hostel holiday is not on the top of everyone's idea's, but thank goodness after speaking to the friendly staff who planned the holiday I followed my instinct and took them all to Okehampton Y.H.A. This... More

This place is like a drug to me now. I first visited in August 2012 with my boys. It was a last min decision to have a break and we only wanted somewhere to kip at night. On our first visit we were met with really friendly staff and were soon signed up to the various activities on offer. So... More

Dear DJ Lee, So glad you enjoyed your 'rehab' at Adventure Okehampton and that you took advantage of the activities and the walks on Dartmoor. I'll pass on the feedback to the different teams, from activities to Catering teams, as well as the reception staff. We do have 2 rooms that are 6 bed ensuites, so for future visits, try... More

I spent 4 nights camping at this hostel, 3 at the Bracken Tor site and 1 at the Okehampton site. The Bracken Tor site was very good. Located up a hill beyond the village, it's relatively isolated and quiet (but for the white noise of the nearby motorway). I pitched my tent in a pretty lawn ringed by shady trees.... More

Many thanks for your feedback about your stay in April. We are sorry to hear that you found the staff disinterested at Okehampton, as most feedback we have is that our staff are friendly and helpful. I have passed your comments onto the hospitality management team for review, but clearly as its over 3 months since your stay it is... More

We visited this hostel over the ten tors weekend and booked a six bed room. The atmosphere in the hostel was fabulous over the weekend with many of the other families staying all supporting their children for the ten tors. The room itself was clean and the bed linen was clean, the bathrooms however were really dirty and both myself... More

Comfortable quiet place to stay. If you are cooking for yourself buy your food in Okehampton before going to the YHA as it's a bit of a trek up the hill. Try the cafe on the old station platform next door for great value tea and cake. If you go down to Okehampton in the evening look for the footpath... More

We have some wonderful experiences since 2005. The staff has always been very freindly and fantastic serviceminded. They have always done their best to make our stay smooth and comfortable. We will definetly recommand anyone to go there, it's a fantastic place. And the surroundings are remarkable beautyful. You can go mountainbiking in Dartmoor, which is a rough, very special... More
