My wife and I had a great weekend in Lydford and the Castle Hotel. The restaurant and food was superb and at good prices, no rip off here. The ambiance was great. The price of the rooms is low for such a location BUT the attention to detail is somewhat lacking. The carpet in the hall and landing leading to... More

I call it the "Boys Weekend" as I still think that we are boys, but sadly we are all now approaching our 50's! We booked 5 rooms for the weekend. All bedrooms were clean and my 4 poster bed was very comfortable. I felt the bathroom was a little small but that's just my opinion. Sue and Simone looked after... More

Ate there twice over a 4 day stay in the village. The homemade steak pie was just amazing, the gammon steak really tasty. The specials board is worth a go if you want something a bit different. Two things I would advise firstly book as there is a lot of walk in trade and second if you go in the... More

Visited here on Friday 26 September for a quick pint and stayed for 5 hours! Particular thanks to Symmone the bar manager for keeping us so well entertained as well as the local patrons. Also thanks to staff Jane and Carl. Booked in for a meal the next day and although not on the menu the chef agreed to get... More

The pub has a public car park opposite which is free with a public toilet facility, the hotel itself is hundreds of years old and full of character, downstairs public areas have low ceiling wooden beams and flagstone floors, to add to the lovely old English feeling there are numerous horse brasses and copper kettles etc in the dining room... Called in for a drink and lunch after visiting Lydford Gorge. Very friendly service and great food. The order was taken incorrectly but swiftly rectified and was superb value. Loved the atmosphere and feel of the place. Was exactly what you would want an old Devon country pub to be.

We ate here this evening - the food and service were wonderful. We'd highly recommend this pub; it has a lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere and the food is plentiful and tasty. The waitress was just lovely.... very professional, friendly and she made us laugh! Thank you for a memorable evening.

After visiting Lydford Gorge we popped in to the Castle Inn for lunch, the staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was great but better than that....the Chicken Madras Curry was so delicious we actually went back 2 days later for another round! Thanks to the chef.

We went with the grandparents and young children and i was so impressed with the food and service. excellent menu with very reasonably priced food and good sized portions. the girls shared a plate of garlic bread with 3 huge slices each for the princely price of £2.50! The menu is so varied i would love... More
