Called in for a drink and lunch after visiting Lydford Gorge. Very friendly service and great food. The order was taken incorrectly but swiftly rectified and was superb value. Loved the atmosphere and feel of the place. Was exactly what you would want an old Devon country pub to be.

We ate here this evening - the food and service were wonderful. We'd highly recommend this pub; it has a lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere and the food is plentiful and tasty. The waitress was just lovely.... very professional, friendly and she made us laugh! Thank you for a memorable evening.

After visiting Lydford Gorge we popped in to the Castle Inn for lunch, the staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was great but better than that....the Chicken Madras Curry was so delicious we actually went back 2 days later for another round! Thanks to the chef.

Many years ago, after a walk around Lydford Gorge, I popped into this pub for a welcoming pint. We needed a overnight stop-over on our way to Cornwall and I remembered this quaint hostelry and booked in. I am so glad I remembered this pub. We arrived early, giving us time for a few drinks in their wonderful garden. A... More

Just returned from a holiday in the area and had a few meals here. All were great, generous portions and the staff were really good. We particularly have to say that Mo is an absolute asset to the Inn and a great character!

Just make your booking, you won't be disappointed. Staff are very friendly and helpful (even when we left my wife's coat behind they've sent it on). Food is great, accommodation complete and good value for money. As for location well, as I say, just book and enjoy !!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Castle Inn is a traditional 16th-century inn situated in Lydford, on the Western slopes of Dartmoor National Park. Built in 1550, its plain pink exterior offers no clues as to what awaits you inside. It oozes with character from every nook and cranny. The lamp-lit bar with low, bowed ceilings, many curios, slate floors and an open fire, the lovely snug with high backed settles and the charming restaurant with beamed ceiling. There is a pretty garden to the back of the inn with more seating and views of the castle. Whether you fancy a pint of Tribute and a chat with the locals, a quick bite to eat or a full meal, the the Castle Inn offers wonderful food and drink in comfortable and relaxing surroundings.
