We ate here several times during our recent stay in Lydford. The food is yummy! The locals and staff make this a great place to visit, and the menu offers something for everyone - you wont be disappointed. The beef, ale and blue cheese pie and the Pork Belly with Mustard Sauce is a must. We slowly worked our way... More

We stayed for 1 night in 2 twin rooms here. I was utterly charmed by the building and bar/restaurant area. It's beautiful. Our room was quite large with 2 beds and a futon. Very warm and comfortable. Really enjoyed our meal and breakfast there. Staff were very welcoming. Unlikely I will be back in this part of the country any... More

Four of us stayed here whilst cycling the Devon Coast to Coast route. The NCN27 passes the front door. We arrived at lunch time, locked our bikes in the conservatory and enjoyed excellent sandwiches and a pint. The pub is close to Lydford Gorge and we spent the afternoon exploring the gorge. An extensive menu and specials board for dinner.... More

Lovely situation near to Lydford Gorge & Dartmoor with walks all around. Currently under renovation in sympathetic style, our room was one of those already beautifully finished, the hall & stairs carpeting a work in progress - we look forward to returning in the future. Food was plentiful & tasty - busy with locals & visitors.

great food served but service dreadful. 2 staff seemed to be serving all the tables. Main meal was quick and we were served by a young girl. After that she disappeared. A gentlemen eventually asked if we wanted desserts and brought the blackboard to our table. He then disappeared for at least 30 mins and then saw him seating a... More

We was meant to park our campervan in the car park overnight but decided to stay in the pub instead, so glad we did. This place is so cosy and authentic, real open fires roaring in the pub. The best food is served here all home cooked and delicious. We had steak and ale pie, chips and veg, it was... More

Pink and great in the spring sunshine. This old inn has an air of history as one enters the at first dim entrance, then the glow of the bright logfire takes over. The warm burning sweet small is near perfect on a cold day. Service from the young waitress was excellent as was our tasty lunch. My wife had the... More

Found the Castle Inn after visiting Lydford gorge (high recommended National Trust walk), so we view it as a pub rather than hotel. It's the perfect combination of traditional pub, restaurant and hotel (9 rooms) with good beer, logs fires right through the day and welcoming staff. And NO MUSIC. Didn't eat but the menu looked good. Very quiet on... More

We had popped into this pub about a month ago for a quick drink in a small cosy bar on the left. This time we turned right and entered a very welcoming restaurant and bar with log fires, where we had fabulous roast beef with a huge and tasy piece of yorkshire pudding. We were lucky to get in as... More

We did not have a reservation but the pleasant staff very quickly offered us a table. Food was freshly prepared and cooked to order. Lots of fresh vegetable, and simply prepared and served and of a reasonable price in this old DEVON pub. This was second time I have been there and would recommend it to anyone. Good simple food...
