Only stayed one night sadly but a great experience. Our room was lovely - very comfortable, excellent quality bed linens and beautifully clean. Very quiet location - but easily accessible to the Dartmoor park. Luckily they were serving food on the night we stayed - believe they only serve food on a few nights of the week. It was amazing... Lydford Country House had been recommended to us by friends. In many ways it was very impressive - location and ambience. It is a very attractive property and it was delightful to sit on the porch and view the lovely lawn and garden. However, it appeared to lack managerial oversight or any sense of welcome from people who were interested... More

Just got back from our Ruby Wedding stay at Lydford Country House. This really was a pleasant experience and highly recommended for people who insist in impeccable standards of bedding, tablecloths, etc. The evening meal and breakfast were top drawer, using locally sourced products where possible. The staff were very professional and can be proud of the way they look... More

I recently stayed one night in mid week whilst away on business. My room was very well equipped, comfortable and clean. Nicely decorated with plenty of tea and coffee on offer. A couple of items to highlight, there is minimal mobile signal in the bedrooms and it was necessary to walk to the end of the drive. A member of... More

We recently celebrated 30 years of marriage by staying in Lydford Country House. Not run by a major chain it offered a homely atmosphere with a friendly owner and staff making our stay a pleasant experience. The location is perfect for the north and south Devon coastline or for walking or driving across Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. The owner has... More

Firstly I should say that this is a lovely property, well maintained with good sized rooms and nice furnishings. In other circumstances I would have rated it highly. But the management appears to be seriously lacking. I had been trying to book for 8 of us (4 couples) since the start of the year, but was told on each occasion... More

We stumbled upon this B & B whilst looking for a 3 night's stay after a week in Cornwall and it was a wonderful surprise! Beautifully clean, welcoming and comfortable with attentive (but not over attentive) staff. They welcome dogs but don't let that put you off if you don't have one - there are no nasty smells or sludgy... More

There are too many negatives to recommend this hotel ( better described as an average b and b ) to anyone. When i asked for newspaper was told abruptly by owner didnt have them. The room was small and in need paintwork renewal. The breakfast arrived half complete ( no egg) and the toast was like pieces of wet cardboard.... More

I rode the Devon Coast 2 Coast cycle route recently and this hotel was my stop on the second night. Darkness was drawing in as I arrived in the evening, cold and very wet. My wife was sure they wouldn't accept me in my filthy cycling state, but I had pre-booked and they did without batting an eyelid. My bike... More

I hesitated to give the Average rating here because we did enjoy our stay at the hotel. However, for the price charged I felt that there were a few things that could be improved. First of all the hotel is in a superb location. It is on the edge of Dartmoor and a short walk from a stunning little village... More
