Good choice of beers. Welcoming landlord. Nice roaring fire in snug area. Tries to cater well for parties, families and quiet drinkers. A lack of atmosphere in the eating area, tho food -including the chips -is fresh varied and good value for money. We come here often for a quiet drink with friends. The best of what Ivybridge town has to offer

called in with my wife and a friend and I was dished up battered fish chips and peas. Battered fish looked like a pile of fried flour, chips were ok and the peas looked like they had been in a pan for a few days. Service was ok, but we had this older lady go on and on, on the... More

We visited the sportsmans Friday 30th January for a nice pub meal and it didn't disappoint. It was a new menu from last time and had a great range of items and some more up market dishes which all sounded lovely. The portion sizes were more than generous and was nice not to see the usual only one scoop of... More

Booked a table for 10 to celebrate my husbands birthday and retirement, the extensive menu suited everyone's taste including 4 grandchildren!!! Service was excellent and all of the meals were served together, all piping hot. Portion size was such value for money. Most of our party had something different and everyone agreed the food was superb!!!!! Today we returned to... More

Although I have not slept at the Sportsmans I have ate there and during the past year I have had occasion to phone them from Asia (where I was staying) to arrange a dining voucher for my son and other residents of Dame Hannah Rogers at Ivybridge this was a group of some 8 severely disabled adults in wheel chairs... Stayed here as I had a meeting the following day (I live in Warwickshire, so not exactly commutable in a day). As it's in Devon, along came my wife & 2 young children, a mini break. Booking was done directly, friendly enough. Arrived, shown to our room, got settled in, a quick drink & something to eat. Room is basic,... More

Very very rude, my mother just got refused a nights stay here based on her disability. My mother who is blind called to book a room for her and her guide dog prior to a friend reserving the room minutes before. The guy on the phone told her that she couldn't stay based on the fact that she had a... More

The Sportsmans Inn is a basic hotel which is clean and friendly and very good value. The breakfast was good with the choice of cereals a good cooked breakfast and toast and marmalade with limitless coffee. I will stay there again when next visiting Ivybridge.
