We had a three course meal, which turned into a 7/8 course meal,we were met in the car park, staff with umbrellas so we did not get wet walking to the restaurant. We were greeted with a glass of champagne on arrival, the meal was out of this word, the tastes on each different course was incredible,it was nothing like I have ever experienced... More

Wonderful welcome ... great attention to detail. Food beautifully presented ..yes tiny portions but exquisite taste and lots courses . The new chef had only been in place 2 weeks . Every course was theatre with impeccable waiter and waitress skills We also had tour of the wine cellar ..impressive .

We had really high hopes for the new chef Michael wignall at gidleigh, sadly we were really disappointed. The hotel is lovely and set in beautiful surroundings. But they are trying to go down the contemporary furnishings route and it doesn't gel with the hotel at all... Changing part of the furniture and leaving lots of the old. It looks... More

A beautiful setting with lovely walks around the hotel grounds or further afield. The hotel offers use of walking boots and coats if you forget to bring your own. The room was very comfortable with the deepest bath I have ever seen. There was no mini-bar or tea making facilities in the room but they do provide a jug of... More

Greeting was welcoming and friendly, room spotless. View - Wow! The setting of this hotel is stunning. But the highlight? The restaurant. We opted for the tasting menu and were very impressed with every mouthful. Book in advance, and believe me, you will want to dine more than once!

Upon arrival we were greeted at the door and our bag was taken from as and taken to our room. We were shown around the hotel then shown to our room. We were given a complimentary upgrade due to it being a little quiet. Our room was absolutely beautiful. The bathroom was spotless with L'occitane toiletries, bath robes, slippers and... More

Such a lovely setting with great walks in gorgeous surroundings. Beautiful hotel, great rooms, friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant with Michael Caines in the kitchen that evening. Amazing food, a great place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We were upgraded on arrival to a beautiful ground floor suite with a wooden veranda - a glass of champagne... More

My husband and I visited Gidleigh Park to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was while Michael Caines was still the chef and the food was wonderful. The hotel is very comfortable. Our bedroom had an amazing view, was beautifully furnished including a very comfortable bed. The bathroom huge, with an old fashioned bath and modern walk in shower. I could... More

Stayed here for one night for my husband's birthday. Our room was fantastic with twin bathtubs and lovely hole in the wall fire that went between our bedroom and bathroom. There was also a sauna in the bathroom, such a lovely touch. Food was superb as was service, can't fault a thing.

but the hotel was not my cup of tea. Our room was furnished and decorated like a granny flat, complete with all these odd little ornaments. Only the views saved it. The food was delicious, but unfortunately we had only booked one of our three nights in advance and were therefore told that our only choice for the other two... More
