This was our third weekend stay at Gidleigh and once again it was a real pleasure. For others in our group, their first, It was good to stay at a different time of year - previous visits have been in April & November. We booked a dog friendly room and were in Lydford. Everything you wanted for doogies enjoyment catered... More

We were very impressed with the Gidleigh Park Hotel. We spent an afternoon and one night at the hotel. The service was attentive and the rooms well proportioned and tastefully furnished. There are no coffee making facilities in the room but you can go and make your own in the pantry and collect some homemade biscuits at the same time.... More

We have greatly enjoyed many excellent lunches at Gidleigh but this was our first experience of Afternoon Tea. We wanted guests from Australia to experience a 'quintessentially English' tea but we found the experience of being served all courses at once, rather overwhelming and very 'beige'. I much prefer tea to be a dainty , highly civilised meal , with... More

Dear RWWDevon Thank you for taking the time to post your report. It is disappointing to hear you did not enjoy the afternoon tea presentation at Gidleigh Park, we have always received favourable feedback and many of our guests return time after time. I do hope to welcome you back to Gidleigh Park in the near future, as you said... More

We stayed two nights in late July and enjoyed excellent weather. We were able to walk the gardens and grounds and have a day walking on nearby Dartmoor, accessed on foot from the hotel. This was our second visit and the welcome, the service, the room and the food were all as wonderful as we'd previously experienced. This is a... More

This was my second visit to this lovely country house set in beautiful grounds. The high quality of the staff gives this hotel a family feel. From start to finish the quality of food and service was terrific and I can only give it a 5 star rating as nothing disappointed. I was fortunate enough to have Michael Caines drop... More

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for 2 nights recently. I have to say the place itself is incredible and first reaction on arriving was all positive. This is a wonderful hotel, making guests feel so at home in a wonderful country house, surrounded by extensive parkland, woods and garden, with putting, croquet and tennis all on hand. The staff were extremely attentive when needed, and the food was memorable. Overall we had a wonderful two days. It was not cheap but is worth every penny.

Gidleigh Park is in a beautiful spot on Dartmoor and the location is perfect. The food choices and wine, along with the service, are impeccable. Had a great 1 night stay in truly beautiful hotel. It was a shame about the weather as we did not get chance to walk the grounds, but that's the UK. Food was awesome of course with truly exceptional service and wine flight!

A very pleasant lunch today. Service was impeccable, attentive, unobtrusive and not snooty. Amuse bouche were uninspiring, but the rest of the food was very good. Highlight for us was coffee with petit fours which included personalised messages from staff in chocolate, on the sunny terrace overlooking the gardens. An excellent finish to a ruby wedding anniversary and friends birthday.... More
