My husband and I have recently returned from a most comfortable and relaxing few days based at the Abbey Inn. We could not have wished for a better welcome and service as we experienced from our hosts, Cecilia, Jake and their dedicated staff. The food both in the bar and the restaurant is well-cooked and well-presented and we felt that... More

We received a very warm welcome from Cecilia and Jake at the Abbey Inn. The B&B rooms are upstairs from the vintage pub and restaurant in this 18th century building. Both of our rooms were nice and quiet, with leafy views out onto the River Dart. The Gooseander twin room was especially spacious, giving us lots of room to spread... More

I stayed here over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May and my stay was very happy indeed - not least because at night I was lulled to sleep by the River Dart which runs just at the side of the hotel. The Hotel As other reviewers have said the Hotel is old and a bit rambling but... More

Well, it certainly is in a very photogenic spot on the banks of the River Dart. Wagtails, kingfishers, mandarin and mallard ducks are all easily seen from the bedrooms that overlook this beautifully tranquil location. Think old hunting lodge with dark wood panelling and an eccentric layout, that one gets use to very quickly and that's the Abbey Inn. Added... More

We stayed for 3 nights last week. An oldy worldy inn in a beautiful location. Our very large room was on the top floor overlooking the river and the sun streamed through first thing in the morning, lovely. Great comfy beds, quite tight en-suite but comfortable sofa opposite the tv. Clean and well organised. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate in... More

I spent just under two week at the Abbey Inn and can thoroughly recommend it. Jake and Celia the owners, are two lovely people. Their warmth and friendliness made me feel part of the family. The cuisine is excellent and the accommodation likewise. I had a full English breakfast each day and Dinner in the evening. The staff were friendly,... More

We have stayed here before and love the location right by the river (which if you are used to a very quiet bedroom may just prove a bit intrusive), and really handy midway between Exeter and Plymouth and for access to Dartmoor. The newish owners are gradually refurbing the hotel, and we liked the food (well prepared and excellent value),... More

We stayed here for one night on the way to a family event in Ivybridge. The situation is lovely, right beside the River Dart. We were met with such warmth and friendlyness by the excellent landlords and staff. We chatted and drank with locals and had a lovely meal and excellent wine. My husband rated the beer first class. Breakfast... More
