We had 2 happy nights at this cosy riverside hotel. Welcome sincere from Jake, Cecilia and staff. Food terrific. Hope to return soon. Must sees, 1. Buckfast Abbey 2. The Valiant Soldier in Buckfastleigh and 3. South Devon railway to Totnes.

Super weekend spent here with the lovely backdrop of the River Dart immediately behind inn. Owners and staff very welcoming and helpful. Large, airy and well presented room with a comfortable bed and usual facilities. (Note no lift but staff willing to help with luggage.) Most rooms have a view of the river but the one from 'Moorhen' was not... More

Stayed here for one night whilst doing some photography at the nearby South Devon Railway. I have stayed here in the past but I must say that the current owners are doing their best to bring the Inn up to the standards of the 21st century. I stayed in one of the refurbished rooms (Goldcrest) which was very clean and... More

We were visiting Pennywell Farm and wanted somewhere reasonable to stay and The Abbey Inn definitely fitted the bill. All the staff were very welcoming and the food, evening and breakfast was excellent, couldn't fault it. We stayed in the Dipper room overlooking the river and as others have mentioned it is a bit dated but although it was a... More

Stayed for one night and for me, it was perfect: the room was simple and really cosy, the staff was really nice and the view from the room was really nice. The food there is also really good. I really recomend staying there.

I have stayed here twice in the last three months and each time have thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Here is a warm, comfortable Inn with a welcoming atmosphere, clean attractive bedrooms most of which overlook the rumbling river. A warm fire and a good ale not to mention the tasty snacks promptly prepared and presented. The breakfast is delicious and... More

Popped in for Sunday lunch. In brief....meat over cooked, mashed sweet potato lumpy and dry, cauliflower cheese was devoid of ANY cheese....shocking NO plumbing for hot water in the mens toilets. Fridge placed on red so if you wanted white it was chilled with an ice cube. Waitresses dressed as goths and no serviettes

We had a very good dinner and bed and breakfast at the Abbey Inn. The hotel rooms and dining room need some modernisation and redecoration, which is in hand. Meanwhile, the food and service is excellent for the modest prices charged. We enjoyed our stay, and the fish and fresh vegetables were particularly good: and the pear crumble too!
