My wife and I had an unexpected weekend free and decided to spend some time at Dartmoor. We searched through Trip Advisor first and discovered Brookfield House. I couldn't believe everything I was reading (surely nowhere can be that good). How wrong could I be. As stated on Trip Advisor, the entrance to the house is very grand with its... more

Breakfast excellent - home made bread, jams and marmalade. Locally produced bacon and free range eggs. Let down slightly by the Tesco branded yoghurt. Surely Yeo Valley Organic or something similar would have been better (and not cost that much more). We stayed in twin bedded room - Poppy with the large private bathroom. Be very careful getting in and... more

We have visited a number of times prior to the most recent visit but felt that this lovely place is worthy a mention on Trip Adviser as being a very high standard B&B and certainly far superior to many hotels that we have stayed in. The rooms are well furnished and decorated and very clean and with everything that you... more

We have thoroughly enjoyed a ten day stay at Brookfield House every year since 2004. It perfectly combines elegance, old world charm, peace and comfort. One receives the personal attention of the owners, not to mention the hostess's homemade bread and preserves! With safe and secure car parking inside locked gates, we would unhesitatingly describe Brookfield House as the perfect... more

We found this B&B on the internet and were impressed by the reviews so felt we had stay there! Frances and Laurence gaves us a warm welcome and were very helpful in advising us about the area and arranging taxis. Frances breakfast were delicious especially her home made breads which were different every day of our 4 day stay. The... more

We spent a very enjoyable time in the home of Frances and Lawrence. Our morning discussions certainly got the day off to a good start, as did the tasty and well prepared breakfast! We booked the Iris room, which was spacious and well furnished - and yes, the curtains open/close at the flick of a bed-side switch! The only sound... more

We managed to book a room at Brookfield at very short notice (they actually hadn't opened for the season yet). We found Francis and Lawrence to be like long lost relatives. They were genuinely interested in us and were also interesting people. The room (Iris) was immaculate. Breakfast was delicious with whatever you could think of, even home made marmalade... more

Five of us stayed at this lovely B&B in May. The other reviewers are not exaggerating its comfort and charm. We took over the whole place - two in Iris, two in Fuchsia, and one in Poppy. All rooms were beautifully decorated, well equipped, and so comfortable that we didn't want to leave. The owners, Frances and Laurence, are friendly... more

I stayed at Brookfield House earlier this week for acouple of days and wished I could have stayed longer. It really is an absolutely fantastic place - immaculately clean, extremely friendly and accommodating hosts and a beautiful house. It is obvious that the hosts really believe that high standards and attention to detail really matter. I was on business so... more
