My husband organised this for our first wedding anniversary. We stayed in the mermaid suite which was beautiful. Champagne and flowers were waiting and he even arranged a message in a bottle on the private beach. We loved dressing for dinner and most couples did although there was one slob there so I think the hotel needs to enforce the... more

WOW is the word. What a Hotel and Island.Just spent the last weekend there as a treat for my husbands 50th birthday. We had the Garden Suite, unbelievable.Having read some previous reviews was a little worried but obviously these people had not been to the same place. The suite was light, large but still cosy.Bathroom superb and it was very useful having a shower room... more

We've just returned from our third stay at Burgh Island over three summers. As the tide washes in to cut the island off at dusk it is a lovely atmosphere. Everyone dresses for dinner but it is not at all stuffy; more like being in a 1930s play. The barman in the evening is excellent - fun, creates an atmosphere... more

As others have said that arriving on the cost and looking at the hotel its really great. You then have to get to the hotel via (Land crusers @ low tide) or the sea tractor (high tide). I was able to do both nice experence. Arriving to the front of the hotel it reminds me of the art deco that... more

Only stayed one night in the Fruity Metcalfe suite - small but lovely room with fabulous bathroom - the setting is unique and the art deco is impressive, but sadly agree with previous reviewer it is a very expensive and possibly over hyped. Understandably with such a setting it is a high maintenance property and weatherbeaten but considering the prices... more

The good bit of course is that the location is stunning, providing the weather is good! Everything else was a huge dissapointment and an extremely expensive one - this hotel is a rip-off! We stayed in the Eddison Suite, which is supposed to be one of the second best rooms at £480 per night, inc dinner. The room in my... more

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome and comfortable, the staff were really friendly and helpful and when we were shown to our suite we were delighted with the decor and the stunning views from the balconies. We couldn't wait to look around and although we were expecting it to be lovely, it surpassed all... more

Burgh Island was lovely and magical. The bedroom had funiture which needed a little attention and the room could do with some TLC. The bath was big (we was in the Cunnard room) and nice views from the balcony. The food was superb and the staff was brilliant. They even showed me some rooms when l asked. You need to... more

Just returned from idyllic two days at Burgh Island. Service, staff, location and ambience perfect. Stayed in the Noel Coward Suite with fabulous interior and amazing views of the island. Island and beach walks, snooze in the afternoon ready for cocktails and dinner. Band lovely on Saturday night although little more room needed to show off everyone's dance moves! Do... more

The first impression of Burgh Island was very good. Travelling across the sand with the view of the island and then entering the hotel was as we'd expected - pretty impressive. Such a shame that it went downhill from there. When we went to check in the receptionist was on the phone discussing a wedding booking so we waited...and waited...and... more
