We stayed here whilst walking south west coast path. It was great to have bus stop right outside and opposite. Was great that you only had to walk downstairs to the pub, and that the breakfast was anytime up to 11.30am (nice lie in!). I thought the room was a little overpriced, I don't think it was worth the price,... More

For about the fifteenth time we held a dinner for 25 people at the George last Saturday night and we were delighted with the food and service. The restaurant manager, Hannah, looked after us really well ably assisted by Joella the hotel manager. The owner Rob was his usual cool hand Luke self behind the bar and all who attended... More

I have recently moved to the area and when my parents came to visit they chose to stay in The George Hotel as it was central and not far from where I live. The bar itself had a lovely atmosphere and prices were reasonable but at £80 per night for b+b the bedroom was not up to scratch. There was... More

Can't really say anything about the George, simply because when we went for lunch we were informed by, whom we presumed were the management, that they were no longer catering for any meals either at Lunchtime or Evening, No explanation was forthcoming.

We had dinner here on Sunday night and it was excellent. We started off with a couple of delicious cocktails while we perused the menu, which offered so many tempting dishes it was very difficult to decide what to have. To make it worse there was also three very tempting dishes on the ‘specials’ menu. We started with a shared... More

Outside, advertised on the blackboard in typically Mediterranean style was Paella. The pub itself has a better than average English style and is clean with pictures of days gone by. The staff was friendly. We ordered our paella, (Tiger prawns, Appledore mussels, grilled chicken and Chorizo.) What came was more like fish chowder than paella. The chef totally missed the... More

They recently switched the menu to steak and seafood. Last night I had the steak AGAIN as it was so good the first time I just had to. Definitely in the top 10 steaks I've ever had. Beef that was mouth watering. Chips that you couldn't leave a single one. Garlic mushroom, vine tomatoes and presented in an onion ring... More
