We didn't stay, just ate lunch on a very wet Sunday. Staff in the pub were friendly and the food was traditional and excellent. Great if you like meat and two veg and large custard desserts like sticky toffee. Family friendly menu and seating. Good for worn out walkers also dog friendly and take card.

I really want to like the Sloop Inn as all the staff were friendly and helpful but I really felt that it could have done with a good slap of paint (including removal of old paint, a rub down and then quite a bit of filler) and more of a reduction for very off peak times such as January. I... More

We had lunch here today. Both our starters had to go back - the chicken liver pate was crumbly which I presume meant it wasn't that fresh and the gravlax was so salty and dry it was inedible. On top of that that the plates and cutlery were dirty for both the starters and main dishes. Having said all this... More

We booked a table for the family for a Sunday lunch in late November. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Our food was very good - best prime roast beef served wonderfully pink, and delicious steak and ale pie. 'Proper' filling food all reasonably priced! The decor in the lower part of the restaurant area (the ship's cabin?) was... More

First impressions on a dismal weather day were excellent - nice warm bar area, friendly staff, good smells. We spotted a nice cosy, unoccupied table and started to make our way over. Then came the announcement - "I'm afraid your kids can't eat in this area". My children are 16 and 11. We were pointed at a much less welcoming,... More

I stayed here for five nights in October 2014 and it was a very good stay. The room was (reasonably) clean and had a good view over the River Avon and down towards the beach. Breakfast was adequate if a little sparse and the staff were efficient and friendly. The bar meals each evening were outstanding and it was a... More

We had lunch here only in September. Busy pub serving excellent food. Loved the location, food, service etc however just one little down side is the outside "beer garden" is quite small and no view of the wonderful countryside surrounding the pub. However don't let that put you off! A few 100 yards from the pub is a stunning beach... More

We stayed one night and ate dinner and breakfast. Our room (5) was a good size with a small en-suite shower room, light and airy with views over the river and out to sea. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Very good food, freshly cooked. The pub is busy in the evenings and booking... More

My husband, baby and I visited this pub today for lunch as we are staying in the area and it came highly recommended. Upon arriving we hadn't booked so thought we may have issues and with a baby and pram also expected it could be a tricky lunch request however, as solos as we walked through the door the staff...
