Walked through the door and smelt a vague stale smell. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was large and clean, except for a few stains on the carpet. Bed was enormous. Decor was tired, both in the room and the down stairs areas. Evening meal was in the Bar which was very dated and heavy in appearance. The tables were... More

Lovely hotel, lots of space and well kept grounds where they grow some of their own food. Hotel looks like it's recently been refurbished - not tired at all that we saw. The bar and breakfast staff very friendly and welcoming; good food in both. Our room was lovely. We asked for one at the back after reading other reviews.... More

The hotel is situated on a medium sloped hill fifteen minutes walk from the shops. The outside looks pleasant and parking is quite good. Restaurant is nice, clean and staff are friendly. Bar is pretty much the same and food is good value. Rooms are a tad old fashioned....ours was quite large, clean and with nice view of the gardens.... More

Hotel generally acceptable without being memorable. Basically it did what it said on the tin.Staff appeared to be not at all interested in looking after their customers. Made a restaurant reservation with reception for evening meal for our wedding anniversary. Arrived in restaurant only to be told they did not have a booking for us but we could sit in... More

This is a hotel with pub on site which also offers self catering. The hotel and rooms are older style and could be updated but were very clean. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. I was travelling with a pushchair so it's helpful to know that there are steps (4-6) to the front door and I think there are... More

I stayed in one of the self catering apartments which are set in lovely gardens. The apartment itself is very dark and the sitting room is very sparse and basic and requires some updating and a few homely additions. The bedrooms are very spacious and the kitchen is very small but perfectly adequate. The bathroom is depressing. The windows need... More

Well this is stepping back in time. The German Officers stayed here during the Second World War and I you get the vibe that the feel hasn't changed. It is a beautiful old historic hotel with large reading area outside grass and pool area. The floors creak and the toilet doesn't seem to work (husband got it going) but I... More
