my friend and I stayed here and asked for a twin room. We were given a room with interconnecting doors to a double room. It was obviously a room used for a family group. It had rather tired furtniture to say the least, although clean. We could hear each other talking through the doors quite clearly. To be fair they did... more

We are a family owned hotel and have a continuous programme of maintenance and repair. The AA has recently (October 2009) undertaken its first inspection of the hotel. The property was comfortably awarded a 3 Star grading with good levels of service and hotel product being reported. Catering and facilities are well regarded by the AA. Interconnecting rooms – Only...

Situated on the junction of two busy roads, parking is limited and traffic noise persists all night. The hotel seems to accept deliveries from noisy diesel lorries at half past three in the morning. The rooms are not air conditioned and windows are not double glazed so a quiet, comfortable night's sleep in the heat of an August night is... more

As the on site manager of the hotel, I feel that it is important that I respond to the comments of Talentedwaster in respect of our staff. Readers may wish to note: The reviewer states that outside of the rooms, the hotel facilities were good. This conflicts with general review score given. Bedroom furniture is not tired within our standard...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Monterey Hotel. We requested, and were given, quiet rooms. The food was very good, although we did decide to eat out on several evenings. The breakfasts were amazing! We also had packed lunches on two days and felt they were good value. The rooms and the public areas were spotlessly clean, even the... more

We have just returned from The Monterey, where I took my wife for our surprise Silver Wedding. I proposed to her in Jersey and thought it would be ideal to go back. I asked for a Superior Room. On arrival we were shown to the most perfect room, we opened the patio door and were two steps away from the... more

Spent a weekend break here. The hotel was OK but a good 10-15 minutes away from the centre. Our room was on the ground floor and was large and well equipped although the furnishings did seem a bit 'tired' Also, surprised , that there was no mini bar. Enjoyed using the swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room which were open... more

We have just returned from this hotel celebrating my husbands birthday, and everything was lovely, room 408, location, staff. we could not fault anything. Staff were so very helpful, from booking resturants, to chatting to us about the island etc. So I can't understand the comments on some of he reviews below. We really enjoyed our stay at the Monterey... more

My husband and I stayed at the Monterey for two nights 6-8 Feb 09. The hotel was booked through Airmiles, so we had a limited selection, after reading the reviews, we were a little apprehensive, but the Managers comments to the previous review were comforting, in that if there were any problems, management will sort them out. The weather was... more

Spent two nights at the Monteray Hotel on the 24th October 08 for my partners birthday as we have not been back to Jersey in many years. I was dissapointed with our room as it had terrrible thick white stains on the carpet, otherwise it was ok. The towels were changed every day but were very tatty. The one time... more

We are always pleased to respond to issues raised. It is unfortunate that none of these issues were mentioned by these valued clients whilst at the hotel. I do hope that the comments that follow will assure future clients of our professional approach to hospitality at the hotel. These ladies were transferred from our sister Morvan hotels property, the sea...

We stayed at the Monterey from 6th to the 13th September and had a lovely relaxing break. The hotel is clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedroom which we occupied was one of the "superior" rooms, and this too was clean and in good decorative order. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was... more

Up on arriving at this hotel for checking in we where told where our room was but no one was to take us to our room. We had paid for a superior room. But this did not look anything above ordinary. We did check latter that day if this was the room we had paid for. We where told that... more

As General Manager I have run the Monterey Hotel for almost ten years. All our meals are freshly prepared and, apart from this reviewers dissatisfaction with regard to the temperature of the hot water to their hand basin, whilst I spoke to these clients on many occasions, I was genuinely unaware of their strong feelings until now. I am aware,...
