I was married on the Thursday of Easter week 46 years ago. This year the date almost coincided so to celebrate we returned to our honeymoon destination - The Royal Hotel, Glendalough. The hotel is much as I remember although there are considerable extensions and of course the surrounding lakes, parkland and ecclesiastical sites have remained largely unchanged. When I... More

This hotel is in one of the nicest locations in Ireland. The views and walks from the front door of this hotel are stunning and I cannot recommend visiting Glendalough highly enough. The hotel itself is very disappointing. However I have stayed here twice and may even stay again. To be honest though its the lack of alternatives that has... More

The hotel is quaint and the view was AMAZING, however; -The service left a lot to be desired..The bar took incredibly long to serve us our drinks due to an extreme shortage in staff. -Our wine took incredibly long to get to us, and our waiter forgot to give us our twenty euro change.. -We where constantly interrupted during dinner... Have to say..not happy one bit the food was ok nothing major ,the staff were appalling, lack of care, attention and interest really showed. Having to wait ages for soft drinks. No colours for kids but give them a activity sheet is a disgrace. ..it was like a play ground there was a child running around with his father.

What a cozy and warm place to have lunch after hiking in the rain. Gluten-free tomato soup warmed me right up! My husband loved his beef pot pie. Very quaint and homey! Fireplace made it even more delightful! Strongly recommend.

Was pleasantly surprised by this charming, country decor hotel. I thought the furnishings were modern yet classic and the rooms were more than comfortable. We had one room on the 1st floor and one room on the 2nd floor, and both had spacious bathrooms, great showers and firm beds. My only gripes were: 1) the bed was a little too... More

i love these old Irish hotels. Timber paneling, creaky floors and worn carpet. A wonderful atmosphere that matches the ancient tourist attraction. The room was very comfortable and clean. Some of the trade work was not finished as well as it could be but that is being picked because the price was very reasonable. The food was very good without... More

We booked a table in the restaurant for Mothers Day, when we arrived we had a few drinks in the bar which was packed but we managed to get a table. We then went into the restaurant for our dinner it was also very busy. We had a lovely meal which was good value for money and the staff were... More

Had not visited Glendalough in more than a decade. Of course, the setting is as magnificent as ever. I was stunned by the tremendous improvement in this venue. It hardly appeared to be the same place that I remembered from the past. Let me also single out the service in the restaurant, as well as the fine quality of the... More

We stayed here after spending the day walking in the Wicklow mountains. The location is ideal at the foot of the mountains at the end of a cul de sac. Our room was nicely decorated and furnished, not at all stuffy or dated. Our only issue was that our room was located over the kitchen which was too noisy for... More
