Lovely old hotel with charm of yesteryear. Terrific attention given by the staff although they were very busy. Seafood chowder was lovely with not too much cream....a welcome bonus. Latte was also good. Would be a great place to spend a few days exploring as well.

Location is obviously fabulous but the food was mediocre at best and the interior is dated. However it was clean and served it's purpose. Service was slow but thankfully we were in no rush. Wifi didn't work. We enjoyed our stay as we were with family but I wouldn't be rushing back.

A great place for a family friendly coffee after a walk in one of Ireland's most historic spots. Glendalough is home to the round tower, dating back to The 6th century and was a place of refuge for Saint Kevin and his followers in Viking times. The boardwalk is safe for children to run or cycle round the lake and leads... More

We had previously stayed at this wonderful hotel, so we wanted to make sure we stopped again. Unfortunately, WE messed up the reservation and they did not have a room. Tom, who greeted us, found a place nearby. He also asked us to come back the following morning for complementary breakfast. As we were packing our bags back into the... More

i recently stayed at the Glendalough Hotel for a visit to the very close-by monastic site. For it's location, this hotel can't be beat. The monastic site and some mountain walks are just outside the door! The hotel has clearly been there for some time, however, it has been kept up and is worth a stay. My room was clean... More

The Hotel is quite old but well maintained and very clean. Our room including bathroom was excellent with a lovely view. Only downside with our stay was that breakfast was a bit slow. You have to order your cooked breakfast from a waiter which can mean a wait. I personally think buffet style breakfast is much simpler and you always... More

Sadly this is a place with a captive audience, its the only hotel and almost the only place to have lunch or a snack in the region of the Round Tower near the Lakes of Glandalough. Sadly the staff level of hospitality is only mediocre. A FRench tourist beside us clearly (to us Irish and New Zealand group) asked for... More

What impressed me most about this hotel was the warmth and courtesy of the reception I received when checking in for one night in a single room at half past midnight on a recent Saturday night! Later even than intended, tired and bedraggled, having just come off a nearby mountain after night-navigation training, I expected at best a cool reception,... More

I stayed two nights at this hotel on the 10th April and the 11th April 2015. I couldn't fault the staff. They were friendly and helpful. Food was fine - I had breakfast both mornings, and dinner in the evenings in the bar. The cheesecake was amazing! My only gripe was with the room I was given on the first... More

I was married on the Thursday of Easter week 46 years ago. This year the date almost coincided so to celebrate we returned to our honeymoon destination - The Royal Hotel, Glendalough. The hotel is much as I remember although there are considerable extensions and of course the surrounding lakes, parkland and ecclesiastical sites have remained largely unchanged. When I... More
