BUT, when it was activily seeking out guest/clients in the past, I was so taken by the beauty of the place and the hospitality of the inn keeper and her family that my husband and I lodged there on 3 separate trips to Ireland. It became my favorite B and B in all of Ireland! (My son and his wife... More

History buffs! This wonderful house, built in the 1700's, predates the Victorian dramas we love to watch on BBC! We found the O'Gradys' Glynch House in Newbliss, an out of the way village, by a lucky inquiry at a local shop where we asked for a reasonably priced nice place to stay. Glynch House is a home one never wishes to leave! I found it a wonderful relief from "purpose built" B&B's. Martha and John O'Grady provide an elegant accomodation (the dining room and parlor are stunning, the new kitchen to my mid-western self an eye opener), rich in historical detail, yet comfortable home. I felt as though I were visiting family... More

I have never been felt so welcomed. The owners were delightful, the manor house accommodation, beautiful and the food delicious. The memories of Glynch House and the O'Grady's will forever warm my heart.

Glynch House is a lovely ancient manor house that doesn't advertise strongly for guests (there's not even a sign for it on the road, which prevents non-reservation lodging requests). I stayed there one night in September 2006 and found it a jewel in County Monaghan lodging, as did the cousin traveling with me. Hosts John and Martha O'Grady were friendly... More
