We were making a return visit because this is such a lovely place to stay. You waken to the sounds of ducks and fantastic views of the river and historic bridge and the delicious smells call you to breakfast. The rooms are cosy and beds comfortable. From this location there are a variety of attractions to visit and there is... More

I ve just had a great weekend stay in the Waterside .We were a group of 15 walkers and we had a wonderful time. Lovely rooms., very friendly staff and great food.. beside the majestic Barrow River. All this in a beautiful medieval village with a wonderfully restored 13 th Century abbey, traditional pubs and a kebab takeaway festooned with... More

We came across this delightful B&B by accident and are so glad we did. The room was comfortable, roomy and tastefully decorated. Very peaceful and relaxing. Shower was great. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic. The B&B overlooks the Barrow River and there are long peaceful walks along the riverside in either directions. Staff were friendly and helpful in giving... Stayed one night B&B, and ate in the restaurant on two evenings. The setting is beautiful, on the banks of the Barrow River on the edge of the lovely little country town of Graiguenamanagh. The building is quite old, with narrow stairwells and low lintels, and smaller than average rooms. However, it is well maintained and comfortable, with all mod... More

A group of us hillwalkers stayed overnight in the Waterside Guest House in order to complete a walk. It does not look the most interesting of houses as it was built in 1871 as a grainstore but inside it is very comfortable with good sized bedrooms with views over the river and Brandon Hill. The beds are ideal for a... More

Stayed here on bank holiday Monday night in June which was a wash out of a day. Restaurant wasn’t open and there are very limited options in the village. One of the pubs serving food wasn’t even open, I assume because it was bank holiday. We drove back to Kilkenny for dinner, not much else to do when it was... More

Beautiful guesthouse. Fantastic views. Stayed for just one night but accommodation was better than we had expected and great value. The breakfast was brilliant and all of the staff were very helpful. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

We rented bicycles from Brian at Waterside and set off for a family trip alongside the river on a beautiful spring day. The route is absolutely beautiful, perfect for walkers or cyclists looking for a casual trip out in the fresh air. We made it to St. Mullins about 7km downriver and stopped for lunch by the water before cycling... More

Everything was great. Fabulous breakfasts; great service. Brian (the owner) could not have been more giving. He had an amazing knowledge of the area. He even picked us up after a hike. We would definitely stay again.

Waterside is a very comfortable guest house, incorporating a very good restaurant. It is situated by the bank of the river Barrow, a very tranquil spot, lots of narrow boats and other craft moored up, a lovely bridge connecting Kilkenny and Carlow, a weir and lock down river and plenty of very pleasant walks to be had. We were only... More
