It's a long time now since we (Australian couple, late 50s) visited Glencar House, and writing a review was something I meant to do at the time but forgot, but I reckon we owe it to the wonderful Liam and Eilis even this far down the track. So even though it Memories: the extraordinary food, the friendliness, the craic in... More

My friend and I arrived at Glencar House in the early evening after walking on the Kerry Way. We were hiking the Kerry Way to celebrate turning 50! We had just walked 15 miles from Black Valley. We were both tired and hungry. We had a great room and dinner. After dinner, my friend and I then moved to the... More

We visited for two nights in October in order to climb Carrauntoohil. An excellent base for walks in the Reeks. A very warm welcom and excellent evening meals. Cosy bar area.Would revisit when next in the area.

This was my second visit to The Glencar House Hotel. I traveled with 11 others from Northern Ireland for a hiking weekend and as before it did not disappoint. Just like being at home, with our excellent hosts Liam and Eilish and their attentive staff. Even my lactose intolerant diet was not ignored. The food was delicious and my companions... More

We had a delightful visit to Glencar House with our family this summer. It is about a 45 minute drive down country lanes outside Killarney to the hotel which is in a perfect setting with beautiful views of the hills and countryside. We were made so welcome and offered a choice of rooms: we ended up in a nice basic... More

Set in the most perfect setting this hotel is a gem of a find. Liam, Eilish and Joyce were perfect hosts. The bar is cosy and friendly with Liam pulling a splendid pint of guinness. Eilish is 'chef extraordinaire' offering a good choice of local dinner choices (beef, duck or salmon when we were there) with perfectly cooked fresh vegetables... More

The hotel is ideally located for the mountains, an actual 9 minute drive from the hydro road route up Carrontouhil. The views from the dining room and our room were gorgeous, of the mountains. At dinner when the stag wasn't in the garden, the shallows were very entertaining. The food was great, we loved it. Liam and Eilis were great... More

After a long day of driving it was so nice to finally get to The Glencar House. Liam and his wife are absolutely delightful. The bar area is so comfortable. We enjoyed meeting some locals while trying out different Irish drinks. It's very clean and pleasant. The food is great. They made us a sandwich to take on our hike... More
