I was hesitant to stay here after reading the other reviews but I'm happy to say that it turned out to be perfectly suitable accommodation with some great extras. Firstly I think that some peoples expectations were a bit off, it's more like a hostel but with a B&B breakfast. It also has a pub, shop and post office attached.... More

The lady who runs it charges 25 euro per person (standard price in region is 20 Euro for modern single occupancy twin room or 15 Euro for a dorm). She has 10 bed dorms and if there are only 10 people staying in the entire hostel, she will put them all into the one room. Our room had dirty sheets,... More

It must have changed hands since 2012. It was cold, unwelcoming, no drying facilities, no evening meal, just offered toasted sandwiches, a bowl of muesli and small juice for breakfast. The hair dryer was dangerous, loose wire. Would not serve breakfast until 8.30am

The worst experience I made in Ireland so far, absolutely not what you expect when you book a B&B. It was advertised in our tour guide, but we didn't see any of what was written there. The rooms were terrible, not clean, not warm ( the radiators didn't work ), the breakfast was not good... Most of the employees were... More

Booked to camp here for one night but cancelled on arrival. Not like the advertisement. Dirty and no proper camping facilities (sloping overgrown field!!). Obviously the owners are not interested in providing good and acceptable facilities. No food available on arrival except sandwiches!!! This is a disaster for any traveller who expects what is advertised. Also as an Irishman an... More

We stopped in to this lovely pub for a pint and we received not only an excellent Guinness each, but also met the wonderful woman who seemed to be running the bar and the post office at the same time. She was genuinely interested to hear about our heritage in the area, and offered the contacts of people to help... More

I've not stayed here but just asked for the campsite and visited it. For me, you can just call that a discharge, or a muddy swamp. There is piles of wastes all around. Toilets and shower cannot lock and are dirty. Even for 5€, it is a steal.

To frame my review in context - our stay was 20 euros a night. (Yes, 20 euros) So bear that in mind when you scroll down to find reviews bemoaning the lack of multiple bread varieties or somesuch. Who stays at a bed and breakfast then complains about no evening meal? Seriously! I stayed with a large group of walkers... More

Stayed there recently, no evening meals, no drying room for a very wet walker. Breakfast was poor, no variety of bread, just plain sliced pan, only instant coffee, most hikers are health concious, so I would have expected a little imagination beyond a health hazard full irish.Earliest we could get breakfast was 8.45am, far too late for someone who wants to... Having just hiked several miles along the Kerry Way and through the Reeks over Carrauntoohil, I expected this place to be the welcoming outdoor hub of memory - I stayed here in 98 when it was wonderful. But it's degenerated into a sad, gloomy, shabby place where the staff are either unwelcoming or have no knowledge of the activities of... More
