I have been embarrassingly remiss in writing this review of Errisbeg House but wanted to do so as travelers are making their plans for the coming tourist season. First, the owner and proprietor Richard Duke de Stacpoole, Richard as we came to know him, was/is a highlight of our travels across Ireland. A gracious host, a captivating conversationalist, and a... I felt Errisbeg House was overpriced for what it was. Richard seems to be cutting costs and effort as much as he can from the quality of towels and lack of tea making facilities in an unheated house to the only hot food offered at breakfast being scrambled eggs. That said it was lovely and quiet with lots of old... More

Richard's hospitality left nothing to be desired from the welcome handshake, wonderful ambience, fabulous bedrooms and fresh yummy breakfast to the fond farewell. Beautiful old house set in wonderful gardens with guinea fowl, ducks, geese etc. A lovely short walk to the village of Roundstone.

Errisberg House is the kind of place we always look for when traveling in Ireland. The house is rich with history and you really feel you are stepping back in time. It was built by one of the area's most prominent families and Richard, the owner, is the current Duke. We stayed in the King's Room which was very spacious,... More

I've never been moved to write a review before but I've never stayed anywhere quite like Errisbeg House. It's been home to one family for several generations and stuffed full of the antiques, pictures and curiosities that they've accumulated over the years - including a family tree that informs you that owner Richard is indeed a Duke, as the other... Errisbeg House, an easy 10 minute walk from Roundstone, stands secluded in a grove of trees at the base of Errisbeg. Our host, Richard, was very gracious...even assisting us in getting our twentieth anniversary weddng bands blessed at his church. The house itself is not "purpose built" and over 100 years old so it comes with a lot of character...there... More

This place is a veritable Shangri La ,truly a magical spot and so private and peacefull. Richard the owner is a real life Duke and is very welcoming ,attentive and unpretentious. My wife and I had the King's room and her parents had the Queen's room. Both our rooms were spacious, very comfortable and spotless. The Queen sized beds are new... More
