We have just returned from a two night stay at Tig Congaile where we also experienced the kind hospitality of Vilma - we would not stay anywhere else on Inis Meáin in the future. Inis Meáin is Inis Meáin - just so special in so many ways. Others have said everything nice needed in relation to Tig Congaile - I... More

We stayed at Tig Conghaile for two nights. A beautiful, friendly place to stay. Extremely tasty food from breakfast through to dinner. Vilma is a wonderful host! We will certainly be returning. Great location, only a short walk to Beach. Highly recommend this accommodation and Vilma's sharp sense of humour.

Just back from 4 fabulous nights on Inis Mean , Aran Islands , Ireland. I stayed at the most relaxing perfect bed and breakfast ever with the charming , exuberant , warm and welcoming Vilma! Her husband Padraic brought home fresh lobster , crab , mackerel ,and other delicious fish early every morning . These were lovingly prepared by a... More

An excellent stay with Vilma, as others have said her cooking is great, you feel like you are in an exclusive club that few know about. The room was plain but nice and comfy. Make sure you know how to find her place because there are no signs on the island. Maybe a mile walk from the dock, or you... More

Tig Congaile and Inishmaan exceeded all expectations! The island is remote, quiet, walkable, and spectacularly beautiful. Vilma and her husband were so warm, friendly, and helpful that I felt I was staying with family. The rooms are clean, views amazing, dinner and breakfast scrumptious! I was traveling solo and there were seven other guests from Ireland, France, and a couple... More

A group of 5 stayed with Vilma for a weekend in May 2014 and it was a most pleasant stay indeed. We had dinner on Friday night and really enjoyed the leg of lamb. We also had tapas for lunch on Saturday and the combinations of tastes were exactly what we needed following a 10 miles walk of the island.... More

I stayed here with my friend and it was very comfortable, delicious, and quiet. Vilma is wonderful! You won't want to leave her cooking, and she can tell you things to do on the island. The rooms are clean and it was very quiet. If you need anything, Vilma is eager to help. The view from every window is beautiful. If... More

We stayed at Tig Congaile in late Oct 2013, the last stop of a weeklong trip through Ireland, in celebration of our 25th anniversary. We were looking forward to the craggy ancient remoteness of the place...sort of a retreat, not to mention the quality of food in Vilma's kitchen. It was beyond all our expectations. We were disappointed to hear... More

Tig Congaile is the perfect base on inis mean and Vilma and Ann Marie, her daughter, are the excellent host. They make you feel so at ease in their home. I cannot overstate how good the food is, it is fine dining at it's best, Vilma's attention to detail is amazing. The greens in the goats cheese salad are all... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Tig Congaile. This family-run B&B is situated on Inis Meain the most untouched of the three Aran Islands. Tig Congaile's tranquil atmosphere and exceptional and serene views of Inis Oirr, the cliffs of Moher and the islands unique landscape, lend towards the rest and revitalization of its visitors, who return time and time again for this very quality. It is also situated a mere 5 minutes walk from the island's traditional pub, where all the locals and visitors can come together to experience a bit of ceol agus craic. And another 5 minute walk in the opposite direction and you will arrive at one of the island's beaches. Your hosts will be Padraig Conneely, a native islander and his wife Vilma, a Guatemalan cook. They started the B&B together from the ground up, and continue to dedicate themselves to making your stay a pleasant and memorable one. ... more   less
