Stayed here 25th and 26th August in the family room (12). Booked through a coupon deal £78 for 2 nights b&b,welcome drinks and late checkout. Staff welcoming and friendly, hotel is "traditional" Donegal not decorated and fitted out like the chain brands. Room fantastic, clean, comfortable and had everything you need. Breakfast good,no complaints. Bar area cosy and chilled out. Definitely a... More

On arrival had a big job finding someone to check us in but when we did things got better. We had requested a room at the front and were given the bridal suite! It was a fairly standard room but had a great bathroom with free standing bath.Dinner was poor, like below standard pub food in a really dark dining room.Staff in the... Stayed for a weekend and had a very enjoyable stay. When we checked in to room there was a problem with bathroom door neither staying closed or locking. Reported this to reception and maintenance man was called and arrived within five minutes to repair it!! Very impressive for a Saturday evening. All the bar and waiting staff were very pleasant... Stayed at the Malin Hotel with my wife, 30th/31st July 2014. Had to go hunting for a member of staff to check in as no one around. However, staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel at home. Got room 20 which I would say smelled of damp when first entering it. Room and shower room where fine... More

Stopped off to eat in Malin Hotel on August Bank Holiday (4th August). The waitress who served us is a credit to the establishment, very helpful and friendly. The food, while reasonably priced was mediocre. I had Caesar Salad, it had 4 breaded chicken goujons which were over cooked in deep fat fryer. Chunky chips were not at all chunky... More

I visited the hotel last night with six friends for the Bohemian High Tea. I had booked it as a surprise for one of them who is getting married soon and I have only one word to describe it - Superb! Everything was beautiful, gorgeous crockery and water glasses, beautiful cake stands and displays and the food was beautiful. There... More

Family stayed here recently, booked 2 rooms through treat ticket. £78 2 nights b+b late check out and round of drinks on arrival. Checked in and no tv aerial, when i told the guy on reception he had one bought and in the room within an hour. We couldn't get any tv channels (apart from bbc) so it didn't matter... More

Our group stayed here on the 4th of July having cycled from Mizen Head to Malin head that week, Rina and the staff were excellent throughout and everyone that stayed with us raved about the decor and comfort of this beautifully quaint hotel. We sat 55 people for dinner which was great value at €20 per head for three courses,... More

My wife and I stayed at the Malin recently, and found it handy for our exploration of Malin Head etc the following day. Unfortunately we had to park the car around the back and carry our luggage all the way around and up the street to the pub in drizzling rain, as they do not allow access through the rear... More

Stayed 11th -13th July, but wanted to leave as soon as we saw the rooms. The pictures on website are a complete fabrication - and bore no resemblance to what we saw or what we were given as rooms. My friend commented that there was precious little "French" or "Boutique" about it. The only part that could be described as... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Going through the door, you're greeted by the creme de la creme of local society. In the air, a distinct scent of haute cuisine and sensual traces of eau de cologne. Ah! C'est la vie in le Malin Hotel. Here we do things "la francaise" - food par excellence, rooms au courant. And a great pint, too! Boutique? We created the word! We're your little pied-de-terre and your "moulin rouge" in the midst of the beauty of Donegal. Boudoirs that'll knock your socks off, wine to blow your mind and scenery that'll make your eyes pop. Unique? You can say that again. ... more   less
